Applications Systems Analyst

The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his or her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic Relief’s organisational values and principles of sincerity, excellence, compassion, social justice and custodianship in management of resources and interaction with external stakeholders, colleagues and other Islamic Relief staff.

1. Application Support

• Delivering support to existing application users by investigating and resolving incidents, service requests, problems and any queries. 
• Monitoring application systems by regular scrutiny systems, noting problems and identifying performance trends. 
• Providing analysis and recommendations during the service design cycle for any new or existing application services to ensure all applications and services deployed are in alignment with the IT and business roadmaps as well as maintaining alignment to industry best practices. 
• Resolving application security issues in a timely fashion. 
• Reporting any potential risks to IT management. 
• Providing Application/Service KPI report metrics as required. 
• To undertake any other reasonable duties that are consistent with the job and at its level of responsibility as and when required by ICT Systems Specialist

2. Project delivery and Change management

• Providing direction and guidance on projects affecting application systems and participating in project implementation. 
• Liaising with software suppliers on the development of enhancements to overcome known problems, or further fulfil business requirements. 
• Reviewing of all IT changes. Making the required decisions related to product or services enhancements, new features and functionality. Identifying enhancements required to applications in order to better meet business requirements and processes and preparing maintenance plans and upgrading schedules for the organisation’s systems.
• Planning and coordinating changes for live production environments and implement after approval via the change management process/ change advisory board (CAB) ensuring there are no issues or concerns on the GO Live day. Proactively resolving any identified problems.
• Plan, schedule and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
• Actively support the ICT change management process to ensure changes are duly documented, planned and implemented.
• Ensuring procurement of IT services is cost effective and completed according to scheduled needs. 

3. Communication

• Build and manage effective relationships with stakeholders across all Islamic Relief offices (International office, field offices and partners) to better understand their needs.
• Effectively communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
• Maintain and contribute to ICT internal knowledge bases.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief’s vision and mission. 

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

• BS CS / BS IT / BS- Software Engineering/ MSCS or MS in IT degree.
• Previous experience as an application support analyst or a similar role, ability to diagnose and solve application issues 3 Years with MS degree or 5 Years with BS degree.
• A high level of knowledge of Enterprise software architectural patterns.
• Troubleshooting methodologies and issue resolution techniques.
• Knowledge and experience in any the following areas:
  • Experience in supporting enterprise or other business applications, testing and supporting implementation of new systems.
  • Understand Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Knowledge of other programming languages like PHP, .Net languages, HTML and CSS.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, solid experience of Windows applications platforms and Applications hosted on the same.
  • Project management methodology and techniques.
• Providing application support of service requests, incident, problems and changes.
• Experience and good understanding of any Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System i.e Unit4.
• Experience and knowledge of supporting MS SQL databases.
• Experience of supporting WordPress websites.
• Maintaining and updating technical and instruction manuals, policies, and procedures.
• Training users.
• Ensuring compliance with all local and international regulations.
• Experience of using a service desk ticket system.
• Testing prototypes, upgrades, or updates.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document detailed software application requirements and business processes.

• Assist in the implementation and deployment of application systems to ensure smooth transition and integration into the production environment.
• Work with software development and engineering teams to troubleshoot application issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, workflows, and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and industry standards related to software development and deployment.
• Participate in user training sessions and provide necessary support for understanding new or updated applications.
• Conduct feasibility studies and impact analysis of proposed system changes to support business decision-making.
