IRC works in partnership with local government and non-governmental organizations and currently works in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh provinces.

Job Overview/Summary:

The position will under supervision of IRC’s Country Pharmacist will support health team and supply chain team and support in the implementation of health programming around primary health care, reproductive health and nutrition services for the most vulnerable, including day to day Pharmaceuticals Management activities. She/he will also guide Supply chain department in supervision of all the pharmaceutical inventory and its supply chain. The position is based in Islamabad with regular trips to other field bases and project sites as requested by his/her line manager

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee drug and medical supplies management for the entire health program in accordance with IRC pharmaceutical supplies SoPs. 
  • Manage the IRC and Implementing partner’s main drug store/warehouse, pharmaceutical inventory and Health facilities stores according to IRC drug management system.
  • Support Country Pharmacist in forecasting for Purchase Requests for drugs, and medical supplies. 
  • Support supply chain department in ensuring provision of quality medical commodities at warehouse as well as service delivery points. 
  • Prepare plan for distribution of essential health supplies and drugs to the health facilities based on their needs and appropriate documentation using standard monitoring tools. 
  • Provide guidance at service level for effective drug distribution and control, quality prescription (analyzing rational drug use), medicines reconciliation, patient counseling, good dispensing practices and safe medication practices.
  • Provides guidance and training to Dispensers at various clinic sites during course of work, monitoring performance, working closely with the other members of the health Team 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or pharmacology and/or equivalent qualifications.
  • Master’s in pharmacy or Pharmacology would be of added value.

Experience:

  • Experience in emergency environments with at least 2-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical management, preferably within Humanitarian contexts.
  • Evident 1 year experience in pharmaceutical stores management.

Skills & Competencies: 

  • Basic training/skills in store management is added advantage. 
  • Strong experience in management, capacity building, and training the staff. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and facilitation skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Additional Qualities: 
  • Works well in and promotes teamwork. 
  • Ability to improvise, be flexible, and adaptability to transitions. 
  • MS excel/computer literacy skills are a must
