IRC has been working in Pakistan for approximately 40 years, managing and delivering large, complex programs to meet the needs in health, education, safeguarding, environmental health and livelihoods for displaced, poor and disaster affected communities. With the support of the federal and provincial governments, and generous donors like FCDO, ECHO, USAID, GAC and Australian Aid Agencies the IRC is currently implementing projects across the country.

Summary: 

The Project Officer under the supervision of the Project Manager ensures that project activities, goals, and objectives are successfully implemented and monitored; the prioritized technical sectors/areas are well coordinated into the overall programming and projects being implemented appropriately. This position supports the team in the oversight of implementation and support in coordination functions with partners. Ensures that all project management roles are covered accurately including HR, Supply Chain, Finance, Program Administration, and Implementation.

Major Responsibilities:

Actively participate in all aspects of the overall project management with a focus on timely and quality results while ensuring coordination, collaboration, empowerment, accountability, and client- centered focus. The incumbent will work with numerous counterparts, partners, and technical leads. Major duties as well as technical, programming, and management responsibilities are described below.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and backstopping for assigned tasks, ensuring all program objectives and goals are met in compliance with donor regulations.
  • Work with field teams on project-related services and serve as the point of contact between assigned field offices.
  • Engagement and coordination with field teams and partners for all project-related activities at the field level, tracking of project actions.
  • Compilation of data and information for donor reporting and other project documents, ensuring timely submission.
  • Development of workplans and spending plans, tracking of activity against indicators, action points, coming from meal and partner reports.
  • Track project deliverables and supervise project performance in the assigned topics and/or geographic areas.
  • Prepare, review and/or edit regular project updates reports.
  • Inform supervisor/management of any critical issues as they arise.
  • Frequent travel to project intervention areas to monitor program implementation and provide technical assistance.
  • Represent the team at meetings, conferences, and workshops, as needed.
  • Provide updates, reports, and critical analysis of the field and report to the Team lead.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure effective support to the field.
  • Coordinate with the protection, livelihood and Health coordinators on strategies that improves the quality and standards of interventions

  • Position works with: Project manager, Technical Coordinators and the MEAL team

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong coordination skills with the ability to manage information (report writing and presentations).
  • Team player and has experience of working remotely and coordinating with field teams
  • The ability to speak using sufficient, structured, and accurate vocabulary in formal conversation.
  • Computer skills including M/S office.
  • The ability to use the language to satisfy professional needs.
  • The ability to read and write at a normal speed and with almost complete comprehension of a variety of materials, unfamiliar subjects, styles and forms pertinent to the job needs.
  • Language Skills: Fluent, professional-level speaking, reading, and writing in English and Urdu.
