IRC has been working in Pakistan for approximately 40 years, managing and delivering large, complex programs to meet the needs in health, education, safeguarding, environmental health and livelihoods for displaced, poor and disaster affected communities. IRC works in partnership with local government and non-governmental organizations and is currently working across the country

Job Overview/Summary: The Project Manager’s primary responsibility is to plan, execute and successfully achieve the targets with teams in all 3 districts of Sindh.

Major Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the program lead, technical managers/coordinators, and MEAL to achieve program objectives and smooth implementation of the project in 3 districts of Sindh.

• Ensure that IRC implementation of the Simplified protocols and IYCF activities correspond to internationally accepted standards, country guidelines and UNICEF guidelines.

• Coordinate weekly and monthly and follow-up on nutrition program implementation to review progress towards objectives through organizing regular review meetings, update and experience sharing meeting among staff.

• In collaboration with the team, identify existing project implementation gaps and new opportunities for nutrition while liaising with partners and stakeholders to ensure that proposed activities and programs align with best practice in the nutrition sector in 3 districts of Sindh.

• Lead the development of a referral mechanism and communication strategies and train nutrition project staff in case detection and referrals between community and OTPs/ BISP facilitation centres/ hospitals.

• Support the nutrition staff and supervisors to ensure proper functioning of reporting systems data flow mechanisms for regular assessment, monitoring and evaluation of the program against its objectives and expected results. And conduct critical monitoring of all aspects of nutrition activities and identify areas of concern. Submit workable solutions for identified challenges.

• Demonstrate understanding of multi-sectoral approach to malnutrition and ensuring that nutrition project beneficiaries are linked with other sector interventions and provide guidance to project staff on the integration of a nutrition component into other sectors as appropriate such as food security, Health, WASH and disaster prevention and preparedness.

• Assess the training needs of nutrition staff, develop a training plan to meet these needs, conduct nutrition training for project nutrition staff and health facility counterparts implementing simplified protocols of nutrition program focusing on all aspects of simplified protocols of community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and IYCF with the support of the field and facility teams.

• Facilitate the development/adaptation of nutrition education training manuals and facilitator's guide based on existing provincial nutrition protocols and curricula including training follow-up.

• Coordinate with other sectoral program managers with IRC’s program to ensure that other parts of the program are functioning to maximize nutrition intervention's impact.

• Liaise with senior manager Health and Nutrition/health coordinator, provincials Nutritionists and others to ensure that specialized support is available at the field/district/activity level to increase coverage and overall efficacy of the program.

• Actively participate and represent IRC in nutrition sector coordination forums, discussions, and activities, serve as an IRC nutrition resource person, and display technical and organizational leadership in sectoral activities.

• Create and maintain smooth relations and open collaboration with Government and local stakeholders and serve as the nutrition resource person.

• Coordinate IRC’s nutrition activities and across a wide range of actors including donors, host governments, UN, and NGO partners to ensure consistency of programming at the field level.

• Ensure project quality completion with MoVs, stakeholder coordination, reporting and team building.

Job Requirements:

a) Education:

Master’s degree in social sciences preferably Public Health and Nutrition

b) Work Experience:

At least 06 years of relevant work experience

c) Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent reporting writing skills in English
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Computer skills including MS- Office, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; validated self-initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to meet short deadlines.
  • Willingness to work long hours and on weekends if required by the emergency assessment.
  • Ability to work under pressure

Language Skills: Fluent in Urdu and English speaking/writing skills along with local languages
