Background

Job Purpose

  • The Dispenser will be responsible for providing services adhere to administrative directives with regards to work schedules, record keeping, patient communications, re-stocking of essential drugs, consumables, and other medical supplies. Keep proper medical prescription records and maintain daily tally sheets.  
  • Maintain regular consumption record and share with Pharmacy Warehouse Supervisor. In addition, she may also be requested to assist hospital staff in a capacity they have the skills and capacity to assist as needed. 

Main Responsibilities

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation. The tasks listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
  •  Ensure that patients are accurately registered and recorded for reporting and case management.
  • Adhere to administrative directives with regards to work schedules, record keeping, patient communications, re-stocking of essential drugs, consumables and other medical supplies
  •  Dispensing medicines, maintaining stocks and daily tally sheets.
  • Administration of injectable medicines to healthcare clients. Assist other health staff in instrument sterilization.
  •   Update Bin cards on daily basis.
  • Maintain daily, weekly and monthly consumption record and share with relevant program staff.
  • Provide health education and hygiene promotion to patients based on their diagnoses and co-morbidities such as diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention (such as need for vaccination, smoking cessation, etc.)
  •  Work with program staff and auxiliary staff (e.g. CHWs) to provide both moral and on-the-job training to build capacity and enhance their skills 
  •  Monitor diagnostic trends and report to supervisor as needed
  •  Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth implementation and integration of services
  • Provide all services free of charge.

General

  •  Deployed personnel are expected to assist with the setup, maintenance and demobilization of the clinical spaces and base camp as required.

  •  Actively promote PSEA (prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and among beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
  •   Adhere to the Code of Conduct, maintain humanitarian principles and respect international humanitarian law at all times.

  • Qualifications
  • Qualified and registered Dispenser from Government recognized Nursing Institute with a valid license to practice.
  • Experience
  • Previous experience in same capacity will be an edge.  
  •  Previous NGO experience preferable.

  •  Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
  •  Ability to relate to and motivate staff effectively
  •  Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources

  • Must work independently under difficult conditions
  • Able to take on non-medical responsibilities from time to time to cover for other team members
  • Skills and knowledge in program sustainability and capacity building, public-private partnerships and project monitoring and evaluation (both quantitative and qualitative methods)
  •  Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Proven capabilities in leadership required
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and organization skills
  •  Fluency in spoken Regional Languages. Communication in National & International Language will be an edge.  

Other

  • In addition to the responsibilities referenced above, candidates can expect to be living and working in austere conditions.
  • Lifting moderately heavy objects from the ground, carrying a backpack for extended periods of time, and walking or hiking in remote locations may be necessary to perform these functions.
