Intelligent Metering System seeks a skilled Mechanical Draftsman to join our engineering department. This role involves creating precise technical drawings and 3D models that facilitate the manufacturing and fabrication of mechanical components. The ideal candidate possesses a Diploma of Associate Engineering or an equivalent qualification and brings 2 to 3 years of experience working with AutoCAD and other drafting software. The work requires the ability to interpret engineering blueprints and apply mechanical drawing standards effectively. As part of this position, you will oversee and guide a team of three drafting personnel, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
The Mechanical Draftsman collaborates closely with design engineers and production staff to produce detailed, accurate plans that meet company and industry requirements. The role demands strong technical proficiency in computer-aided design tools and a comprehensive understanding of mechanical manufacturing and fabrication processes. You will be responsible for maintaining drafting standards, optimizing workflow within your team, and supporting cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of design changes from conception through completion.
Responsibilities
- Create and update detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and other drafting software.
- Interpret and translate engineering blueprints and technical specifications into clear, accurate drawings.
- Adhere to mechanical drawing standards and ensure consistent quality across all drafting projects.
- Coordinate with design engineers, manufacturing, and fabrication teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet project requirements.
- Supervise and mentor a team of three draftsmen, assigning tasks, reviewing deliverables, and providing technical guidance.
- Maintain organized documentation for all drawings and revisions to support engineering workflows.
- Identify and implement drafting process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Review and verify drawings for completeness and compliance with engineering and industry standards before release.
- Participate in project meetings to provide drafting updates, discuss technical challenges, and collaborate on solutions.
- Support the development of prototypes by providing detailed mechanical drafting and technical drawings needed for fabrication.
- Ensure timely delivery of drafting outputs aligned with project schedules and quality expectations.
- Stay current with updates in CAD software, drafting methodologies, and mechanical manufacturing trends.
