The Librarian at the Institute of Legal Excellence (ILE) plays a crucial role in managing and organizing the library's resources to facilitate effective information access for students, faculty, and researchers. This position involves maintaining accurate cataloging and classification of legal materials, developing and expanding the collection, and providing expert reference services to support academic and research needs. The Librarian ensures the digital and physical resources are readily available and promotes efficient records management practices to uphold the institution's standards. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience in library science or a related field and demonstrates strong communication skills to interact effectively with library users. Though this role does not require managing a team, the Librarian must work cooperatively with colleagues and support staff to maintain a well-organized and customer-focused library environment. Emphasis on digital literacy and information retrieval skills is essential to meet the evolving demands of information services in a legal educational context.
Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain the librarys collection through accurate cataloging and classification of materials in accordance with established standards.
  • Develop and update the collection to ensure relevant and current legal resources are available to users.
  • Provide reference services by assisting users in locating, accessing, and utilizing information effectively.
  • Manage records and library databases to ensure information is up-to-date, accessible, and secure.
  • Facilitate information retrieval through both digital and physical platforms, enhancing user experience and accessibility.
  • Offer customer service by addressing inquiries, guiding users in resource utilization, and resolving issues professionally.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to support curriculum needs and research projects through targeted collection development.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and legal guidelines related to information management and library operations.
  • Stay informed about advances in library science, digital tools, and legal information resources to continually improve service delivery.
  • Participate in continuous professional development to enhance skills in cataloging, classification, and digital literacy.
