The Solar PV Designer/ Engineer will be responsible for PV system design, mounting systems, stringing arrangements, instructing surveys, planning applications, grid connection applications, refining system proposals and generally knowing and advising on the whole range of solar PV and energy storage systems.

This role involves working closely with Architects, Salespeople, Operational delivery teams and external customers to ensure our designs meet the needs of feasibility and profitability and comply with the current regulations and standards in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with our Architects and Sales support teams, you will review and endorse Solar PV Designs, proposing technical enhancements for improved efficiency, quality, and performance.
  • You will conduct & design  shading analysis, 3D modelling, electrical single-line diagrams, and connection diagrams.
  • You will optimise system performance and energy production using PVSYST & Open Solar software. 
  • Effectively communicate with clients to ensure a clear understanding of design proposals. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Project support, and Installation teams to meet client needs and deadlines. 
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety standards, innovating new processes when necessary.

What We're Looking For:

  • Excellent communication skills both written & verbal.
  • Strong engineering and design skills with a good level of knowledge in  various PV schemes.
  • Good knowledge of PV manufacturers, components, and relevant legislation.
  • Experience in small wiring, containment, and as-built drawings.
  • Proficiency in PC software tools such as AutoCAD, PV*SOL, PVSYST, Open Solar and MS Office suite.
  • Must be Fast Learner with Can-Do attitude. Able to work own their own initiative with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering qualification (e.g., Degree/HNC).
  • Knowledge of LV and HV electrical works associated with PV projects.
  • Strong understanding of the commercial impact of activities.
