Essential Duties:
- Safely operate skip bin trucks to collect and deliver skip bins to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness.
- Load and unload skip bins onto trucks using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Secure skip bins properly on the truck to prevent shifting during transport.
- Follow established routes and schedules to meet customer demands.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on vehicles, such as checking fluid levels and tire pressure.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to management promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably in the waste management or transportation industry.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness (Dover test).
- Ability to operate skip bin trucks safely and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
- Attention to detail and a focus on safety.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
