The Head Teacher will facilitate and support the overall management and implementation of Acted’s Formal Education programme in BEF. This role ensures effective compliance in BEF-(FORMAL SCHOOL) School and guarantees that the school is fully operational and providing quality education. Responsibilities include robust communication with teachers and assisting them in resolving day-to-day operational issues to ensure the provision of quality education to students in the Formal Education School.

Key Operational Responsibilities:

  • Ensure 80% attendance of students throughout the academic calendar year.
  • Monitor and ensure adequate BEF-(FORMAL SCHOOL) center management, including upkeep of building, WASH facilities, hygiene, cleanliness, and furniture.
  • Maintain constant liaison with teachers and support them in resolving day-to-day center issues.
  • Support in establishing a structured backup teacher mechanism to ensure uninterrupted teaching at BEF-(FORMAL SCHOOL) School during the absence of designated teachers.
  • Visit BEF-(FORMAL SCHOOL) School weekly and share effective reports with DPM and concerned stakeholders, highlighting issues needing urgent attention.
  • Provide data for developing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of the project as per the guidelines provided.
  • Support in ensuring that the BEF-(FORMAL SCHOOL) School follows the specified academic calendar and that learning activities occur as per the work plan.
  • Provide operational support in ensuring that all assessments and examinations of BEF-(FORMAL SCHOOL) School are conducted timely and as per donor guidelines.
  • Support DPM in conducting capacity-building for teachers.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Acted mobile application for teachers and students' attendance, ensuring timely record-keeping.
  • Establish and activate PTC/SMC for each BEF-(FORMAL SCHOOL) center.
  • Ensure that PTC/SMC organizes regular meetings, with records readily available and course correction measures duly taken.
  • Coordinate closely with SMCs/PTAs to assess learners’ educational performance.
  • Ensure adherence to Acted’s safeguarding, Child Protection, and PSEAH policies and implement them at the center level.
  • Coordinate with SMC/Community Mobilizers of Acted for community support required at the school.
  • Promote health and hygiene awareness among students.
  • Maintain school records for students and teachers, along with stock registers, learner aids, etc.
  • Involve students in the celebration of national events and commemoration of thematic days.
  • Complete any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Field Monitoring Responsibilities:

  • Follow all guidelines and policies from security focal points concerning the security situation.
  • Ensure that teachers are aware of security threats and follow Acted security policies, MOSS, and SOPs accordingly.

Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences or a related discipline, preferably education or development studies.
  • At least 2 years of experience in supervising education projects, with preference for experience in managing Formal Education projects.
  • Experience in Accelerated and Alternative Learning programmes, including enrolment of out-of-school children (OOSC) and retention strategies.
  • Willingness to work and live in remote areas.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and independently in both field and office settings.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Sindhi/Saraiki will be considered an added value.
  • Fair knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Good understanding of child safeguarding/protection issues in Pakistan.
