Abbott, a global leader in healthcare innovation, is seeking a Head of Strategy & Transformation for its Established Pharmaceuticals division in Pakistan. This critical leadership role focuses on driving the site’s transformation agenda by fostering a zero-loss culture and ensuring strategic clarity alongside operational excellence. The successful candidate will join the Site Leadership Team and be responsible for aligning strategy, culture, systems, and people to deliver sustainable business results. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead continuous improvement initiatives, cultural transformation, and capability development within a high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive 3-year strategic masterplan for the site. This includes defining the long-term vision, setting strategic priorities, identifying organizational capabilities, and translating these elements into an integrated annual plan with clear KPIs and milestones. Drive operational excellence by implementing Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to boost productivity, minimize waste, and enhance efficiency across manufacturing operations.

Oversee the Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) portfolio by applying structured loss analysis and root cause analysis to prioritize and execute high-impact projects aligned with business objectives. Establish and govern a site-wide PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) management system to ensure disciplined execution, performance tracking, and continuous learning through regular reviews and structured communication forums.

Lead cultural transformation initiatives using High Performance Organization assessments and employee engagement diagnostics to cultivate accountability, collaboration, and a problem-solving mindset at all organizational levels. Design and implement a comprehensive Learning & Development system aligned with strategic and operational needs, incorporating competency frameworks, skill matrices, and capability development pathways.

Collaborate closely with HR to develop onboarding programs, early career development, and leadership pipelines that support talent strategy, succession planning, and internal capability building. Develop and execute a site communication strategy that ensures clear and consistent cascade of strategy, performance results, and cultural messages to all employees, fostering engagement and alignment.

Implement robust organizational governance and change management frameworks to clarify roles, decision rights, and accountability, while effectively managing transformation adoption. Lead a multi-year simplification and digitization roadmap aimed at reducing process complexity, eliminating non-value-added activities, and deploying digital tools for enhanced data visibility and real-time performance management.

Optimize work processes across all site functions through structured process mapping, workflow analysis, and redesign to improve efficiency, clarity, and embed standardized improvements into daily operations.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is essential, including hands-on exposure to core manufacturing and lean manufacturing continuous improvement practices. The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills with a strategic mindset, complemented by excellent communication abilities and proven experience in managing teams.
