Job Responsibilities:
Installation: Properly install fire alarm systems in accordance with blueprints, electrical codes, and manufacturer specifications. This involves mounting components, running wires, and ensuring all connections are secure and functional.
Maintenance and Testing: Conduct routine maintenance checks and inspections on fire alarm systems to ensure they are operational and compliant with safety standards. Perform scheduled testing of smoke detectors, alarms, control panels, and other system components.
Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve issues with fire alarm systems, including troubleshooting electrical problems, replacing faulty components, and adjusting settings to ensure optimal performance. Respond promptly to service calls and emergencies related to fire alarm systems.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, repairs, and upgrades performed on fire alarm systems. Ensure documentation is organized and up-to-date for compliance and reference purposes.
Compliance: Adhere to local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations governing the installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems. Ensure all work meets safety standards and is performed in a manner that minimizes risk.
Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers, building managers, and other stakeholders to provide technical support, answer questions about fire alarm systems, and ensure customer satisfaction with services rendered.
Training: Provide training to building occupants or facility personnel on the operation and maintenance of fire alarm systems. Educate users on how to respond to alarms and emergency situations effectively.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional vocational training or certification in electrical systems, fire alarm technology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems. Familiarity with electrical systems, circuits, and wiring practices is essential.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical manuals. Ability to use testing equipment and tools related to electrical work. Knowledge of fire alarm system components and their functions.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
