As an Operations Manager, you would be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of a New Zealand-based company's local office in Islamabad.

Your role would involve ensuring the smooth running of the business in line with company policies, managing staff, and handling the interface between the Islamabad office and New Zealand headquarters. Here are the typical responsibilities:

  1. Operational Oversight:

    • Manage the daily operations of the office in Islamabad, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in business processes.
    • Coordinate across departments (sales, HR, finance, etc.) to ensure seamless workflow.
    • Handle day-to-day issues that may arise and ensure their resolution in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Team Leadership:

    • Lead, supervise, and manage the team working in the Islamabad office.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to ensure high performance and a positive work environment.
    • Conduct regular meetings, manage schedules, and delegate tasks effectively.
  3. Client & Stakeholder Management:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and business partners, particularly in the New Zealand market.
    • Act as the point of contact between the New Zealand headquarters and the Islamabad office.
    • Manage client expectations, resolve any issues, and ensure that all services are delivered as per client requirements.
  4. Financial Management & Budgeting:

    • Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring that costs are kept within the allocated limits.
    • Track and report on financial performance regularly to the headquarters.
    • Ensure all operational activities are carried out within financial constraints.
  5. Performance Reporting:

    • Provide detailed reports on business operations, team performance, and any challenges encountered.
    • Communicate any operational issues, improvements, or changes to the New Zealand office on a regular basis.
  6. Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with local business regulations, labor laws, and health and safety standards.
    • Manage and mitigate risks related to the operational activities of the office.
  7. Strategic Planning & Improvement:

    • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
    • Identify areas for operational improvement and introduce best practices.
  8. Human Resource Management:

    • Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of the team.
    • Handle HR matters such as performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and ensuring a positive working culture.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Educational Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree (MBA) is often preferred, especially for senior managerial roles.
  2. Work Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience in a managerial or operations role.
    • Experience managing teams and overseeing day-to-day operations.
    • Previous experience in an international or multinational organization is a plus, especially with cross-border operations.
    • Familiarity with working in a New Zealand-based company or experience in handling multicultural teams would be an advantage.
  3. Key Skills:

    • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively.
    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu (knowledge of other local languages is a plus).
    • Organizational: Strong organizational and time management skills, with an ability to juggle multiple priorities.
    • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to resolving operational issues.
    • Negotiation: Ability to negotiate effectively with clients, suppliers, and partners.
    • Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
  4. Software Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Monday.com).
    • Experience with ERP software and accounting tools is a plus.
  5. Cultural Sensitivity:

    • Since the company is based in New Zealand, you should have the ability to work with diverse teams and understand the cultural nuances between New Zealand and Pakistan.
    • A good understanding of both Pakistani business culture and New Zealand’s corporate practices would be beneficial.
