DevOps / SRE Engineer

As an On-Site DevOps/SRE Engineer at GigMasters.IT, you'll be responsible for managing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure, focusing on scalability, reliability, and automation. You will work closely with development teams to integrate continuous delivery and deployment practices, ensure high availability of our systems, and improve the overall performance of our services. This role is based in our Lahore office, where you will have the opportunity to work directly with an innovative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring it meets performance, security, and cost-efficiency requirements.
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Leverage Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and other IaC tools to automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Use Docker to containerize applications and manage containerized environments with Kubernetes for large-scale orchestration and deployment.
• CI/CD Pipeline Development: Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, and AWS CodePipeline to automate the software delivery lifecycle.
• Performance Monitoring & Tuning: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of applications and infrastructure, identifying and addressing bottlenecks to enhance scalability and reliability.
• Monitoring & Logging: Implement and manage monitoring and logging solutions, utilizing tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or ELK Stack to ensure uptime and system health.
• Incident Response & Troubleshooting: Lead troubleshooting efforts and respond to production incidents, minimizing downtime and ensuring a smooth recovery process.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure infrastructure security best practices are followed, including IAM, encryption, patching, and vulnerability scanning. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development and product teams to define operational requirements, improve workflows, and implement best practices for continuous integration and deployment.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Cloud Expertise: Strong experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Containerization: Extensive experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including managing Kubernetes clusters and leveraging Helm for package management.
• CI/CD Pipeline Expertise: Hands-on experience creating and managing CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Automation Tools: Proficiency in using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or other IaC tools for automating cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
• Performance Optimization: Experience optimizing large-scale distributed systems for cost efficiency, speed, and reliability.
• Scripting: Strong skills in Python, Bash, or other scripting languages to automate tasks and infrastructure management.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and centralized logging with ELK Stack.
• Security & Best Practices: Deep understanding of cloud security best practices, such as secure network design, identity management, data encryption, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2).
• Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills to quickly identify issues in complex systems.
• Team Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and explain complex technical issues clearly.

Nice to Have

• Experience with serverless architecture using services like AWS Lambda.
• Knowledge of microservices architectures and the tools used to deploy and manage microservices.
• Familiarity with GitOps workflows and tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
• Experience with other configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
