In this pivotal managerial role, the Import Export Manager oversees all functions relating to import and export documentation, trade finance, and risk management to optimize operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. They coordinate logistics and supply chain activities, ensuring adherence to Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and other relevant legal frameworks. This position requires maintaining close communication with customs authorities and financial institutions to facilitate smooth clearance and payment processes. The manager plays a vital role in analyzing and applying CPFTA Phase-II tariff lines and leads efforts to maintain compliance with SBP Foreign Exchange Regulations. As a team leader, they motivate and direct staff to meet performance benchmarks while developing continuous improvement strategies in trade operations.
Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the import and export team of five to achieve departmental objectives and maintain high operational standards.
  • Oversee compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and internal policies related to imports and exports, particularly those involving China.
  • Coordinate the preparation and verification of import and export documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Utilize WeBOC and Pakistan Single Window portals for customs clearance and documentation processing.
  • Manage trade finance activities including credit, letters of credit, and payment arrangements to facilitate smooth import transactions.
  • Interpret and apply CPFTA Phase-II tariff schedules, SRO structures, and Origin Rules to optimize tariff benefits and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and evaluate risk management practices related to import-export activities.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure effective coordination of shipments, delivery schedules, and inventory management.
  • Maintain current knowledge of SBP Foreign Exchange Regulations and ensure import payments comply with these requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with international trade transactions and compliance.
  • Build relationships with customs officials, trade partners, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies to enhance operational efficiency and problem resolution.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on import-export activities, compliance status, and financial implications to senior management.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of trade operations.
  • Train and mentor team members to improve skills, compliance awareness, and performance in trade processes.
  • Stay updated on relevant changes in trade laws, international agreements, and best practices to ensure organizational compliance and competitiveness.
