Due to recent business growth, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance role. This role will require a strong candidate to oversee the management accounts function, its processes and outputs whilst at the same time, implementing changes to support the department and the business.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Produce and oversee monthly Management Accounts to ensure completion to a high standard.
  • Must have the ability to discuss the accounts in detail in a leadership team board pack meeting.
  • Continually adapt and improve management reports as agreed with the Finance Director.
  • Perform key balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the transactional team’s reconciliations are complete and accurate.
  • Manage a team of sales ledger clerk, purchase ledger clerk cost control officers and train them to upskill their ability.
  • Review variance analysis and commentary in support of the Board pack.
  • Responsible for the Business Management Information function, including the Commercial Decisions Register and other reports.
  • Monitor the cashflow position of the business when assessing payment runs and approvals.
  • Communicate with interdependent departments to resolve queries and get to root cause of issues to ensure they do not occur again – focussing on the risk process.
  • Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative or adjust existing work place procedures and practices.
  • Produce high quality work to assist management in making key strategic decisions.
  • Take responsibility for all of the annual budgets/forecasts, including the management of the Business’ expense budgets.
  • Full monitoring of the cost benefit analysis element of the business.
  • Reviewing and assessing all Investment proposals submitted to Finance to establish prospects of return.
  • Work effectively to meet deadlines and organise workload and priorities.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as prescribed by the Finance Director.

Person Specification

  • Minimum Qualified- ACA, ACCA or CIMA or Part Qualified with 5+ years of accounts experience.
  • Experience of Sage 200 accounting package would be advantageous.
  • Excellent IT skills and highly proficient with MS Excel.
  • Strong spreadsheet manipulation skills.
  • Ability to input, retrieve and analyze data.
  • Ability to develop and improve report formats in line with business needs.
  • Ability to deliver accurate, high quality work and reports to aid decision-making.
  • Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Consistent performance even when under pressure.
  • Self-motivation and drive with the ability to motivate own team.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels and to do so with confidence.
  • Proven relationship and approachable nature.
  • Flexible approach to work, willing to play a full role in ensuring the success of the team.
