EQ Nexus is seeking a highly skilled Employment Law Paralegal to support its legal team with employment law matters. The successful candidate will work directly with attorneys, providing critical assistance throughout all case stages, including client communication, legal research, drafting, and case management. This role focuses on employment-related issues such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. The position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and comfort working independently in a remote setting. The paralegal will ensure that case files are meticulously prepared and maintained to support hearings, mediations, and depositions, all while maintaining consistent communication with clients and coordinating with other parties involved in the litigation process. An ideal candidate will have at least three years of paralegal experience, particularly within a U.S. law firm environment handling employment law cases. The paralegal will be entrusted with drafting and proofreading legal documents, conducting thorough legal research, managing discovery processes, and assisting with trial preparation tasks. Proficiency with legal case management software and Microsoft Office is essential. While this role does not include managing a team, collaborative efforts with attorneys and support staff are key to delivering exceptional service to clients and ensuring smooth case progression from start to resolution.
Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with attorneys to support complex employment law cases, providing comprehensive case management assistance.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to gather detailed information, respond to routine inquiries, and provide timely case updates throughout the legal process.
  • Assist clients with workplace issues such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination, ensuring they receive appropriate legal support and guidance.
  • Draft, review, and proofread legal correspondence, declarations, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other relevant documents for attorney submission.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain case files, exhibits, and supporting documentation required for hearings, mediations, depositions, and internal attorney consultations.
  • Perform legal research related to employment law topics, summarizing findings that inform case strategy and assist attorneys in building strong arguments.
  • Ensure that electronic case files are accurately maintained and that all documents are filed and indexed to facilitate easy retrieval.
  • Track important deadlines, manage attorney calendars, and coordinate case scheduling to meet court and client requirements efficiently.
  • Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, process servers, and third-party vendors to support discovery and trial preparation tasks.
  • Assist in the collection, organization, and review of documents during the discovery phase to ensure all necessary information is available for the legal team.
  • Prepare legal forms and filings in compliance with court and agency regulations, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support attorneys with administrative tasks and case management duties, contributing to overall office efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Participate in special projects that enhance firm operations and client services as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive work ethic.
