We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Import Assistant to join our team. As an Import Assistant, you will play a crucial role in managing the logistics and documentation involved in international trade. The ideal candidate is proactive, possesses excellent communication skills, and has a strong understanding of import procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the import process by coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other relevant parties to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
2. Review PFIs, banks, shipping and customs documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bill of lading, sales contracts/agreements.
3. Coordinate with the logistics team to arrange transportation from port to factory and track containers/trucks to ensure on-time hassle free delivery and resolve any issues or delays.
4. Assist in the preparation of import documentation for audits and compliance checks.
5. Maintain accurate records of import transactions/shipment status on daily basis, including invoices, shipping documents, bank payments and customs declarations.
6. Coordinate with finance and account departments to ensure accurate and timely payment of import duties, taxes, etc.
7. Can prepare landed cost sheet of import shipments.
Required Skills:
1. Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and reviewing documentation.
3. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook etc).
4. Knowledge of customs regulations, import laws, and international shipping procedures.
5. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with various stakeholders.
6. Ability to work in such a manner to meet tight deadlines.
7. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
8. Can work in late timing as & where necessary to meet targets/close in hand jobs.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Business administration or a related field.
2. Proven experience of 3-4 years in a similar position (of import documentation + banks + logistics-including port operations.
3. Knowledge of SBP/customs regulations and experience with banks/customs documentation.
4. Familiarity with international trade documentation including Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading and Certificates of Origin.
5. Command in letters drafting for banks etc & e-mails writing is a must.
6. Good/running conditioned own bike & valid driving license are essential.
