The position of Senior Finance and Accounting Officer (SFAO) is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the company in accordance with generally accepted International Accounting Standards (IAS).  In addition, this individual will be directly involved in providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the company. 

Finally, through keen oversight of the accounting process, the SFAO will enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve the overall operation, effectiveness and financial condition of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Planning, Analysis and reporting:

  • Drive the company’s financial planning including budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
  • Presenting and reporting accurate and timely company financial information.
  • Supervise all financial personnel of the company.
  • Direct Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes to ensure timely billing and sufficient cash flow for the company.
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs of the company and ensures timely invoicing to the company’s clients and payments to outside vendors
  • Oversee the collection of past-due accounts
  • Facilitate the optimization of the company’s ERP system, by providing the appropriate information in regards to estimating, Profit & Loss, revenue and account summary reporting
  • Create and implement a working capital plan and direct investment of excess working capital
  • Report to the management and board of directors on all financial areas
  • Maintain and administer stock ownership practices and reporting to shareholders
  • Oversee and direct the annual auditing process and report to management and board.
  • Satisfy all regulatory and tax compliance filings and reports, while working to minimize taxes

Risk Management

  • Review existing receivables of clients to take timely action.
  • Develop a standard contract system for the client to implementation of new relationships which minimizes risk to the company.
  • Preserve, protect and vigorously defend the firm’s assets, business and interests
  • Report on risks not covered by insurance

Systems and Support

  •  Conduct trainings for staff to maximize efficiency by the use of technology.
  • Review, recommend and direct the appropriate capital expenditures for all technological areas
  • Manage staff in the compliance of software for all users.
  • Develop and implement a disaster recovery plan and procedures to insure minimal interruption to business, as well as maintaining routine transactions.

Administrative

  • Work directly with team /department heads in the forecasting of revenues and expenses.
  • Oversee and administer all agreements for Assets, office/storage space leases.
  • Direct and manage the supply chain process.
  • Monitor payroll and routine expenditures
  • Initiate meetings as needed with the staff and/or management to address areas of concern or ideas for process efficiency and improvement

Human Resources Management

  • Manage, motivate and provide leadership to an accounting staff of eight individuals
  • Direct the controller in providing and directing procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services
  • Monitor and evaluate subordinates’ performance and workloads, reassigning priorities as needed
  • Perform staffing functions (coach & train)

Required Skills

Education and basic skills:

  • C.A/ICMA/ACCA.(At least Intermediate level completed)
  • Advanced PC Skills (Microsoft Office – Power Point, Excel, Word, Outlook and Access) and oracle-based ERP.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal Communication (written and verbal), combined with a good sense of humor

Experience/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Progressively responsible positions showing 5-10 years in manufacturing concern, including supervision and senior management responsibility.
  • Strong experience in planning, structuring, and implementing plans.
  • Experience working in a multi cultured environment.
