We are looking for a mid-level DevOps Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure that supports our applications and services. This role focuses on building reliable production environments and working closely with development, QA, and IT teams to automate operations, improve observability, and lead incident response efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong production instincts and the ability to grow into a senior reliability owner as the company scales globally.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Implement and maintain scalable container orchestration using Docker.
CI/CD Pipeline: Develop and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to automate testing, building, and deployment using GitHub and Google Cloud Run. Collaborate with development teams to integrate new features into CI/CD workflows.
Monitoring & Observability: Set up and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems with tools such as Elasticsearch, Kibana, Prometheus, and New Relic. Build dashboards, metrics, and actionable alerts to detect issues before they impact customers and ensure critical signals are always captured.
Reliability & Incident Response (SRE): Define and own service-level objectives (SLOs/SLIs) and error budgets for key services. Lead end-to-end incident response including triage, hypothesis formation, mitigation, and resolution. Act as incident commander during major incidents, coordinating communication across stakeholders. Conduct blameless postmortems to identify root causes and track corrective actions. Participate in on-call rotations and work continuously to reduce toil and mean-time-to-recovery (MTTR) through automation. Plan capacity, performance, and cost strategies for scaling to multi-region global traffic.
Database Management: Administer and optimize MongoDB instances to ensure data integrity, performance, and security. Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for MongoDB and other databases.
Security & Compliance: Apply security best practices across infrastructure, applications, and data. Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Automation & Scripting: Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and system operations using GCP services. Develop custom scripts to enhance automation and operational efficiency.
Collaboration & Support: Work closely with development and QA teams to support the software development lifecycle. Provide technical guidance and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 3 to 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role. Strong expertise with Docker and container orchestration using Kubernetes. Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, and GKE. Proficiency with Elasticsearch for monitoring and logging. Skilled in administering and optimizing MongoDB databases. Proven track record of operating production systems and managing incidents, with the ability to quantify impact and describe improvements made.
Skills: Strong scripting abilities in Python, Bash, or similar languages. Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Ansible. Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or CircleCI. Sound production-debugging methodology, including hypothesis-driven investigation and understanding of system interactions. Comfortable defining alerts, dashboards, and SLOs, with a solid grasp of availability, latency, saturation, and error budgets. Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Demonstrated ownership and a blameless, collaborative approach under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with additional cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is desirable. Certifications in Docker, GCP, or related technologies are advantageous.
