Key Responsibilities
- Organize, update, and maintain patient medical records in both electronic and paper formats to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations as well as applicable state and federal privacy laws to protect patient confidentiality.
- Coordinate effectively with psychiatrists, therapists, and administrative personnel to facilitate timely access to medical records.
- Prepare and manage documentation required for audits, insurance claims, and internal reviews to support operational efficiency.
- Assist with initiatives related to the digitization of records and the implementation or optimization of electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to verify the completeness and accuracy of patient files, maintaining high standards of data integrity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Administration, or a related discipline.
- Two to four years of experience in medical records management or healthcare administration, preferably within psychiatric or outpatient care settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and hands-on experience with EHR or Health Information Systems (HIS).
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
