Manager (Web Hosting)

COMSATS Internet Services (CIS), Pakistan's pioneer ISP, invites applications from qualified and experienced candidates, for appointment on a contract basis against the post of Manager (Web Hosting), who leads a team of professionals to ensure the smooth operation and management of the organization’s web hosting infrastructure. This role requires expertise in cloud infrastructure management, virtualization technologies, and data center operations to maintain highly available and secure hosting environments. The manager oversees server administration on both Linux and Windows platforms, manages server virtualization using VMware vSphere and vCenter Server, and ensures seamless service delivery by promptly addressing failures and reducing downtime. This position demands proactive handling of email queues to prevent excessive email traffic and spam issues, maintaining logs for hosting server services, and taking immediate restoration actions when needed. The manager plays a critical role in securing hosting servers against vulnerabilities while ensuring 24/7 on-call availability during emergencies. Proficiency with web hosting control panels such as WHM, cPanel, and Plesk, as well as knowledge of domain registration and SSL installation, is essential. Red Hat Linux and Microsoft certifications are preferred, further attesting to the candidate’s technical mastery in a web hosting environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of five professionals responsible for web hosting server operations and infrastructure.
Oversee and maintain cloud infrastructure, virtualization technologies, and data center operations to support hosting services.
Administer server environments on Linux and Windows operating systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Manage server virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere and vCenter Server to improve resource utilization and scalability.
Monitor and manage email queues effectively to prevent excessive email traffic loads and mitigate spam threats.
Maintain comprehensive logs for all hosting server services and analyze them to detect and resolve operational issues.
Ensure rapid restoration of hosting services in the event of failures, minimizing downtime and service disruption.
Implement robust security measures to protect hosting servers from unauthorized access and emerging threats.
Coordinate with relevant teams to handle domain registration processes and SSL certificate installation seamlessly.
Administer and monitor web hosting control panels such as WHM, cPanel, and Plesk to facilitate efficient service management.
Manage and configure critical server components including IIS, Apache, Exim, SmarterMail, MailEnable, FTP, DNS, Firewalls, MySQL, and MS SQL Server.
Establish and enforce standard operating procedures to optimize data center operations and enhance service quality.
Maintain 24/7 on-call availability to respond promptly to emergency situations and mitigate service outages.
Ensure compliance with industry best practices and organizational policies related to hosting infrastructure management.
Train and develop team members to build technical expertise and improve overall team performance.
