COMSATS Internet Services (CIS), Pakistan's pioneering Internet Service Provider, is seeking a qualified and experienced Manager Core Networks to join its Islamabad office on a contract basis. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated team of two professionals, overseeing the core network infrastructure to ensure its stability, security, and optimal performance. This role demands hands-on expertise in managing core network technologies, including Cisco equipment, routing protocols, and network traffic engineering to support seamless internet services to customers. The Manager Core Networks is responsible for designing, configuring, and troubleshooting the core network components while implementing security measures to protect network integrity.
The role requires proven experience with routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and ISIS for efficient traffic management and bandwidth utilization. An understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 routing is essential, along with practical skills in bandwidth management, network traffic shaping, and using monitoring tools like MRTG and CACTI. The Manager Core Networks plays a pivotal role in distributing international bandwidth effectively across fiber, wireless, and wired connections to meet customer demands. The position contributes directly to the growth and reliability of CIS's network services and demands a proactive, solution-oriented individual with at least five years of relevant experience in network infrastructure management.
Responsibilities
COMSATS Internet Service in collaboration with Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) have deployed L-Root Servers in Islamabad and Lahore. The L-Root instances in Pakistan have helped improve internet speeds and disseminate traffic allowing users to experience reduced response time for DNS queries, and significantly improved inter-networking efficiency of country’s Internet infrastructure.
