Deputy General Manager (Systems) / In-Charge Data Center

COMSATS Internet Services, Pakistan's pioneering Internet Service Provider, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Deputy General Manager (Systems) / In-Charge Data Center for its Islamabad office. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience managing complex data center environments and IT infrastructure. This leadership role requires expertise in data center infrastructure management, virtualization technologies, disaster recovery planning, and security compliance. The Deputy General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring system reliability, and managing a dedicated team of eight professionals to maintain optimal performance across servers, storage, and network infrastructure. This role demands a proactive leader proficient in both Linux and Windows operating systems, well-versed in various hosting panels, and experienced in domains like VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and cloud-based disaster recovery. The candidate will implement robust backup and recovery solutions and ensure the security of hosting servers while swiftly restoring services in case of failure. Strong knowledge of network configurations (IPv4 and IPv6), firewalls, and messaging gateways is also essential to maintaining the integrity and availability of critical IT services.
Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of eight IT professionals to deliver high-quality systems and data center services.
Oversee data center infrastructure management, including servers, storage (SAN, NAS), and network equipment.
Manage virtualization environments using VMware ESX, ESXi, and Microsoft Hyper-V platforms.
Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize service interruptions.
Ensure security and compliance of hosting servers by monitoring and applying best practices for firewalls, IPSec, SSL, and other security protocols.
Administer Linux and Windows operating systems including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Manage hosting control panels such as WHM/cPanel and Plesk, facilitating account migration and hosting panel configurations.
Maintain and configure key software components and services such as IIS, Apache, Exim, SmarterMail, MailEnable, FTP, DNS, MySQL, and MS SQL Server.
Oversee configuration and management of messaging gateways, spam filters, and SMTP protocols including Symantec SMG.
Ensure continuous service availability through proactive monitoring and prompt restoration efforts during failures.
Manage storage systems and file system technologies including RAID, EXT3/4, NFS, ISCSI, XFS, and Logical Volume Management.
Perform Linux shell scripting for automation and streamlined system administration.
Monitor network configurations at the operating system level, including IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and routing.
Coordinate domain registration processes and SSL certificate installations to support secure hosting services.
Continuously evaluate new technologies and tools to enhance system performance, security, and scalability.
