Assistant Manager (Systems / Hosting)

COMSATS Internet Services (CIS), Pakistan's pioneer ISP, is seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Manager (Systems / Hosting) for the Faisalabad Office. This role requires managing and maintaining critical hosting infrastructure to ensure reliable and secure service delivery. The candidate leads a team of two professionals and works proactively to monitor server health, handle emergency response, and maintain high availability of hosting services in a fast-paced environment. The position demands expertise in both Linux and Windows operating systems, hosting control panels, and server security protocols. The Assistant Manager is responsible for optimizing email traffic to prevent overload and spam, managing server resources effectively, and promptly restoring services in case of failures. The role includes monitoring server logs, implementing configuration management, and safeguarding server infrastructure from security threats. The candidate must be available on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies and maintain service continuity. Expertise in domain registration processes, SSL installation, and various hosting technologies is essential, with relevant Red Hat Linux and Microsoft certifications preferred.
Responsibilities

Manage and maintain Linux and Windows servers to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Administer hosting control panels including WHM / cPanel and Plesk Panel for efficient server management.
Monitor email queues to prevent email traffic overload and minimize spam impact.
Ensure security of hosting servers by implementing necessary firewall rules and updating security patches regularly.
Manage and troubleshoot services such as IIS, Apache web servers, Exim, SmarterMail, MailEnable, FTP, DNS, MySQL, and MS SQL Server.
Analyze server logs to identify and resolve service issues quickly, ensuring minimal downtime.
Coordinate the restoration of hosting services promptly in the event of failures or outages.
Supervise and guide a team of two staff members to support system administration and hosting operations.
Maintain active communication with stakeholders to report server status and incident resolutions.
Be available on call 24/7 to address emergency server issues and ensure continuous service availability.
Oversee data backup and recovery processes to prevent data loss and maintain disaster recovery readiness.
Manage domain registration processes and oversee SSL certificate installation to secure hosted domains.
Utilize configuration management tools to automate server setup and maintenance tasks.
Stay current with industry best practices, server technology updates, and emerging hosting solutions.
Develop and document standard operating procedures for server management and security compliance.
