SKB Engineering and Construction

Established in 1954, SKB is justly proud of its 54 years history of achievements in the field of civil construction.

In the earlier years, the company business activities were restricted to the Baluchistan Province where it made a mark with projects like the RCD Highway & Hub Dam. In the 70s its construction projects expanded to other provinces of Pakistan.
The turning point for SKB came in 1980, with the award of the World Bank financed 150 km long 3rd IBRD Highway Project which is the largest single national highway project completed by a local contractor to date.
The last 20 years saw SKB to emerge as one of the leading constructors of Pakistan with notable expansion in management structure, major investment in plant & equipment and steady rise in the annual turnover.
During this period SKB became the top Pakistani constructor under the National Highway Authority with key projects like the 3rd & 4th IBRD Highways, Ubauro-RahimYar Khan Highway N-5, Uthal Bela Highway N-25, Mardan Swabi Provincial Highway, Kashmir Highway and Pindi Murree Road.
SKB was also involved in some major Water Resource projects like Remodelling of Nara Canal, Chakora Nullah Flood Protection Works, Akra Kaur Water Supply & Treatment Works, Metropolitan Water Supply Scheme and Put Feeder Canal.
In 1996, the Joint Venture of Impregilo (Italy), Zublin (Germany), NCL & SKB, won the Contracts 1 & 2 of the prestigious Ghazi Barotha Hydropower Project with a collective cost of US$ 600 M.
In 1998 SKB took the first step abroad with two self financed building projects in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
In 1999, PAMIC, a consortium of local construction firms including SKB, was awarded the Motorway M-3 (Faisalabad, Pindi Bhattian) on B.O.T. basis.
Currently the firm is eagerly seeking opportunities in the Central Asia and the Middle East.
