Jinnah Medical College Hospital provides comprehensive inpatient services in almost all major disciplines of medicine and surgery. There are many beds which include general wards, semi-private and private rooms. The services and facilities available cover almost all disciplines of medicine. All inpatients are routed either through the Emergency Medicine Section or the outpatient services. All inpatient services have a unique system of prescribing drugs through Physician Order Entry (POE). A fully operational nursing station equipped with network computer systems for accessing a patient's investigation results and medical records, unit receptionists, nursing staff and residents.
- Consultation & Treatment Depending upon the patient's medical condition, the doctor may decide to get a consultation from specialist physicians from other departments. These doctors are not based in the Emergency Room and are sometimes called from home.
- Laboratory services are provided through a well-equipped, highly automated and professionally run facility, providing 24-hour service seven days a week, including holidays.
-The Department of Radiology is well-equipped to cater to a variety of patients and their radiological procedures. Round-the-clock service fulfills the needs of inpatients, outpatients and outside referrals by providing the best possible and modern diagnostic facilities in the Radiology unit. We provide vital support services across the spectrum of clinical specialties and as leaders we initiate and promote change.
-The Department of Pharmacy at Jinnah Medical College Hospital is providing state-of-the-art pharmacy services with a mission to provide compassionate, ethical, accessible, and high quality pharmacy services to our customers. The Department takes pride in providing high-tech state-of-the-art professional services to our patients round-the-clock, which includes in-patients as well as ambulatory care patients.
- The Department of Physiotherapy provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to assist adults and children in overcoming physical, neurological and cognitive impairments, disabilities and handicaps. All Physiotherapists work with an interdisciplinary team to restore physical functions, relieve pain and minimize the psychological, social and vocational efforts of disability.
- Wards: At present it has many beds which include general wards, semi-private and private rooms. The services and facilities available cover almost all disciplines of medicine. A complete ward is devoted to the Gynae / Obs. Department with a fully equipped labor room an a separate operation theater. Another ward is reserved for children / Peads. Department. It has general beds, semi-private rooms, private rooms, and an intensive care unit for pediatric cases only.
Inpatient care is available in the rest of the wards / rooms for general surgical, general medical, orthopedic, eye, ENT, psychiatric, dermatological and other special cases. A 10 bedded intensive care unit is also available for cases that need close monitoring. All beds have modern cardiac monitors, central oxygen and suction system, microprocessor, electronic respirator, defibrillators, electronically controlled infusion pumps.
- In the emergency room, the priority is to attend to patients with serious illnesses/injuries. To facilitate this, medical condition is initially assessed at the Triage Desk after the patient has registered at the Registration Counter, and sometimes even before registration, if the situation so demands.
- ICU's are equipped with the most advanced life saving facilities and managed by nurses especially trained to look after post surgical patients. These include patients of open heart surgery, coronary artery by pass grafting (CABG) and other high risk complicated surgeries.
