BSS Engineer (Base Station Subsystems) - Telecom Sector

The BSS Engineer will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, overseeing hardware and software fault resolution to maintain optimal network performance. This role involves coordinating closely with other technical teams including RF, Transmission, Power, and Core Network to guarantee seamless network functionality. The engineer is responsible for conducting site surveys, preparing detailed technical reports, and maintaining thorough documentation and maintenance logs. Strong analytical skills in root cause analysis and network troubleshooting are essential to drive effective fault rectification and ensure the reliability and quality of telecommunication services. This leadership position demands diligent supervision of team members and adherence to OEM standards and customer requirements throughout all project phases.
Responsibilities

Install, commission, and integrate Base Station Subsystems such as BTS, eNodeB, and gNodeB following OEM and customer specifications.
Lead and manage a team of 10 engineers and technicians to ensure timely project execution and high-quality maintenance works.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on BSS equipment, addressing hardware and software faults promptly to minimize network downtime.
Execute comprehensive troubleshooting and root cause analysis on faults in BSS hardware and software to support continuous network availability.
Support network expansion, modernization, and swapping projects by collaborating with project managers and cross-functional teams.
Conduct detailed site surveys to assess feasibility, gather technical data, and prepare accurate reports for deployment and maintenance planning.
Monitor alarms continuously and coordinate swift fault rectification to maintain optimal network performance and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate effectively with RF, Transmission, Power, and Core Network teams to ensure seamless network integration and operation.
Maintain precise and up-to-date documentation, including site records, technical manuals, and maintenance logs for audit and operational purposes.
Ensure all installation and maintenance work complies strictly with OEM standards, customer requirements, and Telecom industry regulations.
Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols rigorously to promote a safe working environment for all team members.
Provide technical guidance and training to the team to enhance skills and knowledge of the latest BSS technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
Continuously monitor network performance and optimize BSS configurations to improve coverage, capacity, and quality of service.
Stay updated on vendor equipment updates, industry trends, and new technologies relevant to Base Station Subsystems and mobile networks.
