The QC analyst in the offset printing and chemical sectors is responsible for conducting tests and analyses to ensure the quality and performance of inks, coatings, and other printing materials. This role involves working closely with production teams to develop formulations and troubleshoot issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare samples of inks, chemicals, and substrates for testing.
  • Conduct tests to evaluate properties such as viscosity, pH, colour consistency, and drying time.
  • Assist in developing new ink and coating formulations to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Modify existing formulations based on performance feedback and testing results.
  • Utilize tools such as X-Rite for colour matching and ensure colour consistency across different batches and products.
  • Perform routine quality control tests to ensure materials meet established specifications and industry standards.
  • Document results and maintain accurate records of all tests performed.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Analyse test data and prepare reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the QC team to communicate quality issues and develop solutions.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and proper handling procedures for hazardous materials.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Work closely with production staff to troubleshoot issues and optimize printing processes.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to improve product quality and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Chemistry, Printing Technology, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in the printing, Paint or chemical manufacturing industry (ink and coatings experience is highly desirable). Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
