Coastal Research is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer specializing in Node.js to join our dynamic team. The Senior Backend Developer will focus on creating robust and efficient backend solutions, ensuring seamless integration with frontend services and external APIs. The role demands a solid foundation in database management, particularly PostgreSQL, along with experience in containerization technologies such as Docker. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in continuous integration and deployment practices to streamline development workflows and maintain high code quality. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
- Implement RESTful API solutions to support frontend applications and third-party integrations.
- Manage and optimize databases, with a specific focus on PostgreSQL performance and schema design.
- Integrate cloud services including AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, AWS EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, and Auto Scaling to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker to improve deployment consistency and resource management.
- Apply continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing, building, and deployment processes.
- Monitor and optimize backend systems to improve overall performance and reduce latency.
- Implement version control practices using industry-standard tools to maintain code integrity and collaboration.
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of junior developers to maintain standards and foster growth.
- Ensure security best practices are followed in backend development to protect sensitive data and applications.
- Stay updated on emerging backend technologies and propose enhancements to improve system architecture and workflow efficiency.
