Project Introduction:

 

The project aims to conduct a thorough analysis of the existing family planning supply chain in all districts of Sindh, utilizing secondary data and identifying obstacles in institutional capacity related to the procurement of commodities, including the processes involved, accountability measures, and incentives that impact operational level commitments to ensure timely and an adequate supply of family planning commodities.

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Country Coordinator and all teams in promoting objectives of the organization.
  • Establish and maintain a comfortable, professional and apolitical atmosphere at the workplace, consistent with the administrative policies, requirements and guidelines of the organization.
  • Ensure that human, physical and financial resources of the organization are utilized effectively and efficiently so that they contribute to the achievement of organizational objectives and add value to the quality of outputs produced.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strong knowledge of family planning and reproductive health (or related areas of global health) within the context of health systems in Pakistan.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with Health and Population Welfare departments at National, Provincial and District level, other relevant government departments like Integrated RMNCH and Lady Health Workers program, donor organizations, and other NGOs working on FP projects at District level.
  • Liaison with FP Technical Advisors within Pakistan including RMNCH-FP technical working group.
  • Provide technical insight in development, planning, implementation, monitoring components of the program/activity.
  • Build capacity- more focusing on the technical aspects of FP aspects for the programs/activities.
  • Assist in the development of technical briefs, summaries, report, and any other documents required with reference to project activities.
  • Provide technical insight into analysis of RMNCH-FP indicators to monitor the progress in Pakistan.
  • Review latest FP and country data, providing high-level analyses and insight into the FP trends as well as supply and demand side challenges and opportunities.
  • Review the existing National, provincial, and global FP practices and continuously guide in improving the quality of project interventions and implementation.
  • Ensure all activities or research which may be undertakings should be of high quality both at planning and implementation phase with active monitoring.

Core Knowledge and skills

  • Strong knowledge of family planning and reproductive health (or related areas of global health) within the context of health systems in Pakistan
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills, especially as they relate to use of data and research insights to drive strategic decision-making
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a broad and diverse audience
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and teams including the government, public health specialists, researchers, program implementers and other country-based FP stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully and engage in rigorous questioning and challenging of ideas and data to advance shared strategic goals
  • Ability to give/receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to travel throughout Pakistan

Qualifications

  • A Medical doctor with master’s degree in Epidemiology or Public Health. Candidates with PhD in a relevant discipline (Health Systems, Epidemiology, Public Health, Public Policy etc.) will be preferred.
  • At least 8-10 years of working experience at the national or sub-national level in Reproductive Health and/or other health programs ideally with direct working experience relating to family planning program planning research, development, and implementation of programs in Pakistan.
  • Should have strong analytical skills with a command over statistical analysis. Should be familiar with statistical packages i.e. SPSS, STATA, etc. and have the capability of conducting independent analysis of large data sets.
  • Familiarity working in low-resource settings, with experience of working with institutions (international, governmental, and non-governmental) relevant to global health and development.
  • Experience of working in regional or global health programs across various cultures would be an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
