Job Summary: A Mechanical Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings and plans for mechanical systems, components, and machinery. These drawings are used by engineers, manufacturers, and construction teams to produce and assemble mechanical parts accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor).
Prepare layout, assembly, and fabrication drawings according to engineering specifications.
Revise and update drawings based on engineer feedback or project changes.
Interpret sketches, calculations, and design concepts from mechanical engineers.
Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and company procedures.
Maintain organized records of drawings and revisions.
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and production teams.
Assist in preparing bills of materials (BOM) and technical documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Diploma or certification in Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.).
Strong understanding of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Basic knowledge of tolerances, fits, and GD&T is a plus.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Experience:
1–3 years of experience as a Mechanical Draftsman (entry-level roles may accept fresh graduates).
Experience in manufacturing, construction, HVAC, or industrial projects is an advantage.
Work Environment:
Office-based with occasional site or workshop visits.
Works closely with engineering and production teams.
