Job Summary
An Electrical and Mechanical Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings, layouts, and schematics for electrical and mechanical systems used in construction, manufacturing, and engineering projects. The role supports engineers by converting concepts and calculations into accurate drawings that meet technical standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities Electrical DraftingPrepare electrical drawings such as:
Power and lighting layouts
Single-line and wiring diagrams
Control panel layouts
Draft cable routing, earthing, and grounding plans
Update drawings based on design changes and site feedback
Ensure drawings comply with electrical codes and standards
Create mechanical drawings including:
HVAC layouts
Piping and ducting drawings
Equipment layouts and assembly drawings
Prepare detailed sections, elevations, and fabrication drawings
Assist engineers with design modifications and revisions
Use CAD software to produce accurate 2D and basic 3D drawings
Maintain drawing records and revision logs
Coordinate with engineers, architects, and site teams
Ensure drawings meet project timelines and quality standards
Diploma or certification in Electrical or Mechanical Drafting
Proficiency in AutoCAD (knowledge of Revit or SolidWorks is a plus)
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications
Good attention to detail and organizational skills
0–2 years for junior positions
2+ years for experienced draftsman roles
Office-based with occasional site visits
