In addition to technical expertise, the Hospital Waste Manager is responsible for leading and supervising a team of 15 personnel. This includes providing comprehensive staff training to maintain high standards in waste handling and control and promoting a culture of safety within the department. The manager coordinates ongoing operations, improves processes, and ensures that all activities are conducted in line with regulatory compliance, emphasizing a systematic approach to hazardous waste management and overall workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective hazardous waste management protocols tailored to hospital settings.
- Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory compliance standards related to medical and hazardous waste disposal.
- Oversee waste segregation processes to prevent contamination and ensure safe handling.
- Monitor infection control measures associated with hospital waste to minimize health risks.
- Manage the disposal of all waste types using appropriate techniques that align with environmental and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain detailed documentation and reporting on waste volumes, disposal methods, and compliance audits.
- Conduct regular staff training and supervision to reinforce best practices in waste management and safety.
- Lead and coordinate a team of 15 staff members, promoting teamwork and high performance standards.
- Review and optimize existing waste management procedures to improve efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with hospital departments and external agencies to ensure coordinated waste handling and compliance.
- Perform regular inspections and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement in waste management.
- Manage inventory and procurement of necessary supplies and equipment for effective waste handling operations.
- Respond promptly to waste-related incidents or regulatory queries with appropriate documentation and corrective actions.
- Promote a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety procedures across all waste management operations.
