The Management Trainee Officer (MTO) in Industrial Engineering is an entry-level position designed for fresh graduates or early-career professionals. The role involves a structured training program to develop the necessary skills in industrial engineering practices. The MTO will assist in analyzing, designing, and optimizing production processes, systems, and operations, with the goal of improving efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. Over the training period, the MTO will work closely with senior industrial engineers to understand manufacturing workflows, equipment utilization, workforce management, and various industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Training and Development:

  • Participate in a structured training program: Gain exposure to various aspects of industrial engineering through on-the-job training, mentorship, and workshops.
  • Understand operational processes: Study production lines, workstations, and material handling processes to learn the fundamental principles of industrial engineering.
  • Learn about IE tools: Familiarize yourself with tools such as work-study techniques, time-motion studies, process flow analysis, and lean manufacturing principles.

Process Analysis & Optimization:

  • Analyze production workflows: Assist in evaluating the efficiency of current production methods and suggest improvements to streamline processes.
  • Support in designing production layouts: Help design and optimize plant layouts for better space utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Time and motion studies: Conduct or assist in time studies to determine the most efficient ways to complete tasks, and develop labor standards accordingly.

Data Collection & Reporting:

  • Gather data from various sources: Collect and analyze data on process performance, production rates, equipment utilization, and workforce productivity.
  • Generate reports: Prepare and present performance reports, including productivity metrics, cycle times, and process improvements.
  • Maintain industrial engineering records: Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date, including process flow charts, layout diagrams, and time study results.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement:

  • Assist in implementing lean principles: Support senior engineers in introducing lean manufacturing techniques like 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and waste reduction strategies.
  • Continuous improvement projects: Be involved in projects aimed at enhancing productivity, reducing costs, and improving overall product quality.
  • Suggest areas for process improvement: Identify opportunities for reducing bottlenecks, downtime, and resource wastage.

Equipment & Resource Utilization:

  • Monitor equipment efficiency: Assist in evaluating equipment performance and recommending changes to improve output or reduce energy consumption.
  • Capacity planning: Help in calculating production capacity, machine requirements, and workforce needs for different manufacturing scenarios.
  • Support workforce planning: Collaborate with HR and operations teams to determine optimal workforce levels and skills for production needs.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work with production teams: Partner with production staff to understand challenges, suggest improvements, and implement changes.
  • Coordinate with quality control: Ensure that process changes are aligned with quality standards and do not compromise product integrity.

  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze data and identify trends or areas for improvement.
  • Problem-solving mindset: Aptitude for identifying issues in workflows and coming up with actionable solutions.
  • Technical proficiency: Basic understanding of industrial engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SAP, Excel).
  • Project management: Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources effectively.
  • Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication to report findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulous in documenting data and ensuring precision in process analysis.
  • Team player: Willingness to work collaboratively with various teams across the production and engineering departments.
  • Adaptability: Ability to learn and adapt to new challenges in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:Fresh graduates or individuals with up to 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Certifications (Optional but preferred):Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

Since 1976, Anwar Khawaja Industries and Select Sports A/s, Denmark have a unique relationship rarely seen in todays business world. The company is producing balls exclusively for Select Sports, Denmark and at the same time whatever Select is marketing is produced by Anwar Khawaja Industries. It is however pertinent to mention here that there has never been a written agreement among these two organizations in this regard. The company is supplying more than 2.5 million balls annually to Select Sports and its customers world wide including Europe and America and has the capacity to produce 10,000 balls per day. Protective Gears. In 1983, the company diversified its operations and started making Protective Gears such as Leg guards, Chest Guards, Arm Guards and Gloves for Hockey and Cricket to cope with the demand of various customers.
