Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital seeks an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize its database infrastructure while leading a team of two professionals. This role demands at least two to three years of robust professional experience in database administration, focusing on configuration, customization, and performance tuning to ensure seamless data availability and security. The DBA will oversee the deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of Microsoft SQL Server databases, applying deep expertise in SQL and PL/SQL to deliver efficient and customized data solutions in a healthcare environment. Managing critical tasks such as backup and recovery, monitoring, and high availability architecture are key components of this position. The ideal candidate excels in automation and scripting to streamline workflows and applies advanced problem-solving capabilities to troubleshoot and optimize complex SQL queries and database workflows. Experience with Change Management processes and proficiency in tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager and SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer will empower the DBA to implement best practices that uphold data integrity, security, and optimized performance. As a team leader, the incumbent will mentor and coordinate team members to maintain operational excellence, ensuring that all database operations comply with the hospitals stringent requirements for data confidentiality and reliability.
Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitor database performance using tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager and SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer, implementing timely tuning and optimization.
  • Perform regular backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to secure data against loss and corruption.
  • Develop and implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime and ensure continuous service.
  • Customize and optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL code to enhance application performance.
  • Manage database security, including access controls and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Automate routine database tasks using scripting languages such as Python and automation tools like Ansible to improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead Change Management activities for deploying updates, patches, and configuration changes with minimal disruption.
  • Collaborate with development teams to support new application features and data migration projects.
  • Maintain documentation for database architectures, configurations, and procedures to support audit and compliance requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage and mentor a team of two database professionals, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies and industry best practices to continually enhance the database environment.
