Aisha Steel Mill Limited Karachi, Pakistan is seeking a Deputy Manager – Taxation to lead and manage the company’s tax compliance and reporting functions. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in taxation, financial accounting, and regulatory compliance. The Deputy Manager will oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns, ensure adherence to tax laws, and manage related financial reporting activities. The position involves supervising a team of four members, providing guidance, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of tax-related tasks that align with the company’s financial goals and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate holds an MBA in Finance or BBA with significant tax-related experience, complemented by professional qualifications such as ICAP CAF or ACCA with relevant article ship experience. This role demands thorough knowledge of tax regulations applicable within Pakistan, the ability to interpret complex tax laws accurately, and the capability to implement efficient tax strategies that minimize risk and optimize tax positions. Strong leadership skills are essential to effectively manage and develop the taxation team and to collaborate with other departments for seamless financial operations.
Responsibilities
· Supervise working & timely processing of regulatory payments including sales tax, withholding taxes, etc.
· Supervise timely filing of quarterly withholding tax statements U/S 165 & annual withholding statement U/S 149 & 165 (7).
· Working and filing of monthly sales tax return & annual sales tax return.
· Working & filing of annual income tax return.
· Working of quarterly advance tax working under section 147.
· Review notice, prepare summary of the notice for management review, arrange information / documents and prepare schedules required in notice received from Federal / Provincial authorities.
· Involvement in appeal of CIR, ATIR & High Court.
· Coordination/discussion with tax / legal advisor for matters wherein their inputs/assistance is required.
· Prepare / update income tax refund report.
· Monthly reconciliation of tax-related GLs including income tax and sales tax receivables.
· Provide tax guidance related to different queries from different departments of the company under the light of laws and regulations.
· Arrange all information required for preparation of exemption application(s), reconcile the record with supporting documents.
· Visit different departments FBR, custom, etc. for regularity compliances. If required
· Prepare budget briefing of changes in taxation laws & update management about implications on business, also involved in federal budget proposals activity.
· Provide innovative tax planning, identify and mitigate tax risk.
