AI and Automation Engineer

Broadridge is seeking a versatile engineer with strong Python and JavaScript skills, practical frontend experience, database proficiency, and familiarity with AI/LLM integration patterns. The ideal candidate will develop production-grade tools, automate workflows, integrate APIs and databases, create structured reports, and maintain secure, maintainable delivery standards. This role requires a professional comfortable working across backend, frontend, middleware, automation, analytics, and AI-assisted engineering, collaborating effectively with business, technology, and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Build AI-enabled automation solutions by designing, developing, and maintaining tools using Python, Django, JavaScript, TypeScript, and related frameworks. Integrate large language model (LLM) APIs for chat completions, function calling, prompt-driven workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, and streaming user experiences. Develop reusable components for data extraction, document processing, reporting, workflow orchestration, and API integrations while balancing speed, maintainability, security, and reliability.

Deliver full-stack web application enhancements by developing Django views, URL routing, models, migrations, templates, middleware, sessions, and multi-database configurations. Build frontend interactions using jQuery, vanilla JavaScript, AJAX, DOM manipulation, event handling, Promises, fetch, Bootstrap components, and JSON APIs. Contribute to TypeScript-based extensions and agent-facing components, and debug issues using browser DevTools, application logs, database checks, and container diagnostics.

Engineer data, reporting, and document workflows by writing and optimizing MySQL and PostgreSQL queries, migrations, indexes, and data access patterns. Create PowerBI dashboards and reports connected to MySQL/PostgreSQL sources, build visuals, develop basic DAX measures, publish to workspaces, and support refresh schedules.

Support browser and desktop automation by developing Selenium and Playwright scripts for web-based tasks. Design resilient automation flows that address application changes, timing, authentication, and operational failures. Document automation behavior, assumptions, error handling, and support procedures to ensure maintainability.

Apply secure engineering and integration practices by consuming REST APIs with robust error handling. Implement secure development practices including single sign-on (SSO) flows, session-based authentication, CSRF protection, and credential storage. Use Git effectively for branching, pull requests, merge conflict resolution, rebasing, stashing, tagging, and code reviews. Build and debug Dockerfiles and docker-compose configurations for local development and troubleshooting.

Collaborate across product, engineering, and operations teams to translate manual or semi-manual processes into automation-ready requirements. Communicate technical trade-offs clearly and provide practical recommendations. Participate in peer reviews, testing, release readiness, and production support.

Required Qualifications

Approximately five years of experience in software engineering, automation, AI-enabled application development, or related technology delivery roles. Strong hands-on Python skills including object-oriented programming, exception handling, concurrent programming, and building maintainable backend services, automation workflows, data utilities, and API integrations. Solid Django expertise covering views, URL routing, models, migrations, templates, middleware, session handling, and multi-database configurations.

Proficient in JavaScript using jQuery and vanilla JS for AJAX, DOM manipulation, event handling, asynchronous patterns, Bootstrap components, DevTools debugging, and JSON API integration. Working knowledge of TypeScript, including typed code, interfaces, generics, and type error resolution. Practical experience with LLM API integration, prompt design, function calling, retrieval-augmented generation basics, token-limit considerations, and server-sent events streaming.

Strong MySQL and PostgreSQL skills including queries, migrations, indexes, and basic performance tuning. Experience with Git, Docker, REST APIs, frontend components, browser automation, document processing, and Windows automation libraries. Understanding of secure development practices related to authentication, CSRF protection, and credential management.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Experience building internal productivity tools, workflow automation platforms, AI assistants, agents, or reporting automation solutions. Contributions to PI agent extensions or similar AI/automation frameworks. Exposure to enterprise SSO, secure credential management, and production support. Experience publishing PowerBI reports to shared workspaces and managing refresh schedules.

Background in financial services, fintech, enterprise technology, or regulated environments is advantageous. Proven ability to translate ambiguous business problems into practical engineering solutions.
