Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) invites applications for the role of General Manager, Chitral, a critical leadership position responsible for steering educational excellence and operational efficiency across the region. Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all educational and operational activities across the Chitral region.
- Lead comprehensive school improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing instructional quality, student achievement, and overall institutional effectiveness.
- Collaborate with central teams including Academics, Finance, Human Resources, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Support Services to align regional activities with organizational strategies.
- Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and operational workflows to ensure efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
- Implement and monitor adherence to organizational policies, governance frameworks, audit requirements, and accountability standards.
- Develop and nurture high-performing teams through effective talent management, staff engagement, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Foster a work culture that attracts, develops, and retains skilled educational leaders and professionals.
- Manage regional planning, performance monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes to promote transparency and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic updates and recommendations to senior leadership on educational outcomes, financial sustainability, operational effectiveness, and risk management.
- Administer education, financial, and administrative functions in coordination with support departments.
- Champion gender equality, diversity, inclusion, and professional development initiatives across regional schools.
- Support organizational governance through policy development, strategic reporting, and executive decision support.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with community stakeholders, government entities, donors, and regulatory authorities to advance educational goals.
Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) is a network of educational institutions that combines the operation of 159 schools and 5 hostels with the management of programmes to enhance the quality of teachers, academic resources and learning environments in Pakistan through community partnerships and long-term interventions. It is one of the largest third-sector networks of educational institutions in Pakistan and part of an international network of over 200 schools spread in 8 countries of the world under the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Reaching out to the remotest areas of the country, AKES,P has been providing quality education in the region for the past 110 years. It is a direct provider of education for nearly 36,000 students from pre-primary to higher secondary levels and facilitates access to higher education through the provision of scholarships, hostels and other educational support services.With more than 2,000 employees, of whom over 1,500 areteachers, AKES,P is also supported by over 2,000 volunteers. In Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, the first AKES,P schools were setup in the 1940s; since then they have contributed significantly toincreasing the literacy rates and social development in theremote, mountainous, harsh and ecologically fragile regions ofNorthern Pakistan. AKES,P currently operates 151 schools inGilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, providing education to over 27,000students, of which 54% are girls. Through these efforts, AKES,Pis continuing to play a critical role in women’s development inthe region. In the Southern Region, AKES,P operates four schools in Karachi,three in Hyderabad and rural Sindh and one in Hafizabad,Punjab, with over 8,900 students. All AKES,P schools follow theNational Curriculum but place special emphasis on the teachingof English, Mathematics, Science and the increasing use ofInformation and Communication Technologies (ICT).
