Position Objective

Action Against Hunger is seeking a community mobilizer to plan, organize and manage all of the activities related to the Community mobilization, including serving as the contact Person to the Community and village leaders. This position will support the Community Health Workers and OTP team for implementation of outreach and OTP activities.

Mission 1: Mapping of OTP/outreach services area and identification of community health workers

The Community Mobilizer is responsible for: 

  • Asses and map OTP/CMAM activities at designated sites in liaison with ACF district officer and department of health and local authorities.
  • Community sensitization on the program objectives and methods to stimulate & eventually promote the understanding and participation of the target population. Community sensitization starts at village- and Community-leader levels and eventually extends to the entire population.
  • Identify the community health workers in the catchment area and link with the OTP in the staff.
  • Seek and provide feedback on screening programme implementation schedule and activities plan as appropriate to enhance coverage and maximize impact.
  • Participate in the selection of the decentralized mass screening sites to ensure access and high coverage.
  • Work closely with DoH Health staffs to ensure all aspects of the program are understood and appropriate referrals take place to and from the CMAM outreach aswell as to Healthcare Facilities.

Mission 2: Supervise activities at Community Screening

The Community is responsible for: 

  • Regularly supervise CHWs for children follow-up to investigate the reasons for absence and ensure the nutritional messages delivered are in adherence with the messages prepared for the program
  • Ensure ongoing Community mobilization activities including satisfactory active case finding, referral & follow-ups.
  • Elicit community involvement in case finding, referral, encouraging attendance and minimize defaulters.
  • Follow-up issues related to low attendance rate and defaulters and the underlying problem and propose appropriate solution.
  • Support to the Community Health Workers (CHWs) during screening (active case finding) and linking up the CHWs with the LHW program.
  • Prepare activity plan for the screening exercise in consultation with the CHWs and OTP Supervisors.
  • Organize and facilitate regular community screening, MNP and IFA distribution and SBCC sessions for CHWs in the community.
  • Provide technical support and supervision to CHWs on screening, active case finding, defaulter tracing, MNP, IFA and Deworming distribution through follow up trainings and on job coaching and supportive supervision.
  • Guide the CHWs for compile weekly/monthly activities report.

Mission 3: Network and coordinate with the relevant sectors:

The Nutrition Assistant is responsible to:

  • Establish good Relationship with the Taluka and UC authorities and Community leaders
  • Establish a network with the other actors in the working area (I/NGOs and DoH)
  • Establish linked and meetings with the Community leaders and different group existing in the working area.
  • Respond and coordinate properly with District Officer Officer representing ACF.
  • Establish a good understanding of the program within the community.
  • Establish good coordination with caregivers coming to the OTP for services.

Mission  5-: Ensure compliance with ACFs gender equality, child protection sensitivity and Safeguarding policies:

The Nutrition Assistant is responsible for:

  • Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender, Child Protection and other safeguarding policies  
  • Implement all work related activities with a gender, inclusion and child protection lens
  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.

Skills and resources needed to perform the function

  • Bachelor degree with 2-3 Year working experience in NGO / INGO in relevant position and program (i.e., CMAM & IYCF). 
  • Ability and willingness to autonomously travel to duty site/ health facility and villages when required.
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions like long distance walking to work/distribution sites
  • Excellent spoken and written local language /Urdu and English language skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Preference:

  • Experience in closely working with DOH and Taluka/District HQ Hospitals and at health facility level is advantageous
  • Previous experience working in clinical setting/CMAM is an asset
  • Ability to prepare weekly and monthly program reports
  • Candidates will be preferred who belong to ACF-intervention areas/UCs district
