Position Objectives

Action Against Hunger is seeking a social mobilizer to plan, organize and manage all of the activities related to the social mobilization, including serving as the contact Person to the PCommunity and village leaders. This position will support the Community Health Workers, OTP team for implementation of outreach and OTP activities, FSL and WASH activities in targeted areas.

Mission 1: Identification and formation of community structures for successful project implementation.

The Community Mobilizer is responsible for:

  • Identify and establish Community structures as per project scope; develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure their support and cooperation in project implementation in targeted villages and Union Councils.
  • Be part of identification and surveys to identify community needs, priorities, and potential challenges related to WASH and FSL, Health and Nutrition and MHPSS components.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions to Nutrition Officers, WASH Officers, FSL Officers for community members on Health & Nutrition, FSL, WASH & MPHSS practices, water management, agricultural techniques, and income generation activities.
  • Organize and sensitize community to promote healthy hygiene practices, sustainable water use, and improved food security and livelihood strategies.
  • Encourage active participation and ownership among community members in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Regularly monitor project progress, collect data, and provide timely reports on community engagement, challenges, and successes to the project management team.
  • Identify the community health workers in the catchment area and link with the OTP in the staff.
  • Plan and organize training sessions for CHWs
  • Strengthen the Community Health Resilient Club (CHRC) and support the CHW in the field operations.
  • Community sensitization on the program objectives.
  • Seek and provide feedback on screening programme implementation schedule and activities plan as appropriate to enhance coverage and maximize impact.
  • Participate in the selection of the decentralized mass screening sites if needed to ensure access and high coverage.
  • Work closely with DOH Health staffs to ensure all aspects of the program are understood and appropriate referrals take place to and from the CMAM outreach as well as to Healthcare Facilities.

Mission 2: Mapping of outreach services area and identification of community health workers

The Community Mobilizer is responsible for:

  • Identify and establish Community Health Resilient Club (CHRC) at designated locations in liaison with ACF Nutrition officer and department of health and local authorities.
  • Identify the community health workers in the catchment area and link with the OTP in the staff.
  • Plan and organize training sessions for CHWs
  • Strengthen the Community Health Resilient Club (CHRC) and support the CHW in the field operations.
  • Seek and provide feedback on screening programme implementation schedule and activities plan as appropriate to enhance coverage and maximize impact.
  • Participate in the selection of the decentralized mass screening sites if needed to ensure access and high coverage.
  • Work closely with DOH Health staffs to ensure all aspects of the program are understood and appropriate referrals take place to and from the CMAM outreach as well as to Healthcare Facilities.

Mission 3: Supervise activities at Community Health Clubs

 The Community Mobilizer is responsible for:

  • Regularly supervise CHWs for case follow-ups
  • Ensure ongoing Community mobilization activities including satisfactory active case finding, referral & follow-ups.
  • Encourage community involvement in case finding, referral, encouraging attendance and minimize defaulters
  • Oversee the IFA supplementation stock at the CHC
  • Organize and facilitate sessions at the CHC.
  • Support to the Community Health Workers (CHWs) during screening (active case finding) and linking up the CHWs with the LHW program and the HCFs
  • Organize and facilitate regular community screening, MNP and IFA distribution and SBCC sessions for CHWs in the community.
  • Guide the CHWs for compile weekly/monthly activities report.

Mission 4: Network and coordinate with the relevant sectors:

 The Community Mobilizer is responsible to:

  • Establish good Relationship with the Taluka and UC authorities, health facilities, LHW program and community leaders.
  • Establish a network with the other actors in the working area (I/NGOs, Agriculture Department, PHE and DOH)
  • Establish links and hold meetings with the Community leaders and different group existing in the working area.
  • Respond and coordinate properly with Nutrition Officer representing ACF.
  • Establish a good understanding of the program within the community.
  • Establish good coordination with caregivers coming to the CHC for services.

Mission 5: Additional Tasks:

The Community Mobilizer is responsible for:

  • This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and the employee will perform other related tasks as required and responsible for reporting and communication of progress and achievement of the specific assigned task.
  • Inform ACF Health and Nutrition Officer, FSL Officer, WASH Officer through supervision of Project Manager any Technical problems encountered in the project. 

 Mission 6: Ensure compliance with ACFs gender equality, child protection sensitivity and safeguarding policies

  • Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender, Child Protection and other safeguarding policies  
  • Implement all work related activities with a gender, inclusion and child protection lens
  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability

Specific skills needed to perform the function

  • Bachelor degree in relevant field with 2-3 Year working experience in NGO / INGO in relevant position and program (i.e. FSL, WASH, Health, CMAM & IYCF). 
  • Ability and willingness to autonomously travel to duty site/ health facility and villages when required.
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions like long distance walking to work/distribution sites
  • Excellent spoken and written local language /Urdu and English language skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in closely working with DOH and Tehsil/District HQ Hospitals and at health facility level is advantageous
  • Previous experience working in clinical setting/CMAM is an asset
  • Ability to prepare weekly and monthly program reports
  • Candidates will be preferred who belong to ACF-intervention areas/UCs district
