Position Objective
The Dispenser will be responsible for the preparation, dispensing of prescriptions, maintain stock control and record, ordering and restocking of the dispensary.
Mission 1: Ensure preparation, dispensing, stock control and management
The Dispenser is responsible for:
- Dispenses prescription medication and other medical products to patients under direction of Medical Officer.
- Counts pills, labels bottles, prices, expiry dates and compounds medications to prepare prescriptions for patients as directed.
- Administration of injectable medicines under directions of MO to patients
- Instrument sterilization.
- Bandage wounds and change dressings when prescribed by doctor.
- Work as medicine storekeeper at hospital and Keep the daily pharmacy registers.
- Update stock register and bin cards on daily basis.
- Keep prescription records and maintain daily tally sheets.
- Maintain daily, weekly and monthly consumption record and share with supervisor as needed
- Supplies patients with information and education on their prescriptions
- Answers patients' questions about their medications under the supervision of the medical officer
- Places orders for additional drugs as directed by the medical officer
Mission 2: Network and coordinate with the relevant sectors
The Dispenser is responsible to:
- Establish good Relationship with the Health care facility staff.
- Establish a network with the other actors in the working area (I/NGOs and DOH)
- Respond and coordinate properly with Health & Nutrition Officer representing ACF.
- Establish a good understanding of the program within the community.
- Establish good coordination with patients coming for health services.
Mission 3: Additional Tasks:
- This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and the employee will perform other related tasks as required and responsible for reporting and communication of progress and achievement of the specific assigned task.
- Inform ACF Health & Nutrition Officer and Project Manager any Technical problems encountered related program.
Mission 4: Ensure compliance with ACFs gender equality, child protection sensitivity and safeguarding policies
- Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender, Child Protection and other safeguarding policies
- Implement all work related activities with a gender, inclusion and child protection lens
- Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability
Specific skills needed to perform the function
- Registered with Pakistan Nursing Council. Ability and willingness to autonomously travel to duty site/ health facility and villages when required.
- Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions like long distance walking to work/distribution sites.
- Excellent spoken and written local language /Urdu and English language skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in closely working with DOH and Tehsil/District HQ Hospitals and at health facility level is advantageous.
- Previous experience working in clinical setting is an asset.
- Candidates will be preferred who reside in ACF-intervention areas/UCs district.
