Duties & responsibilities:

As a Procurement & Product Development Manager, you will be required to lead and manage a team of 2/3 who are responsible for the functions listed below. You will be expected to lead the department, retain direct contact and communication with suppliers and report directly to the company directors.

  • You will be required to train and coach the team and provide cover where required. The team should be trained to be able to cover all operational tasks for periods of your absence. The company may also hand over any other reasonable duties.
  • Research, test, and purchase quality products and materials for new and existing materials;
  • Maintain and continuously improve the company procurement strategy and ensure the company’s purchasing is in line with the Company’s budget;
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing;
  • Process orders and plan deliveries and maintain/manage stock levels in coordination with production and management
  • Promote quality assurance and compliance for all goods/materials purchased and escalate any discrepancies with stock (e.g., damaged/incorrect goods, poor quality, etc.) with suppliers and management
  • Produce and evaluate reports and statistics on a regular basis
  • Minimise risk to the business in the event of supplier failure by identifying alternative suppliers.
  • Process all orders for new and replacement tooling and communicate with all departments accordingly;
  • Manage overall direction, co-ordination and evaluation of procurement for the company
  • Create processes and policies
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs and preferences and develop product strategies that align with this.
  • Continuously review and manage the company’s existing products and services offered with a view to further developing it and/or adding to it.
  • Effectively co-ordinate and communicate the addition of new products or services to the company’s range
  • Present new ideas and opportunities
  • Support in ensuring compliance with ISO9001/14001/45001
  • Deal with and/or oversee all administrative tasks relating to Purchasing.

Person Specifications – Abilities & Skills:             

Knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge of procurement
  • Mathematically and technically minded
  • Knowledge of the self-adhesive label industry would be desirable but not essential to the role as full training will be provided.

  • Good telephone manner & presence.
  • Good command of the English language, in written and verbal terms, and good comprehension.
  • Good ability to communicate clearly and concisely (written and verbal).
  • Good time management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills and ability to find answers/solutions.
  • Able to learn, retain and apply the knowledge acquired through training.

  • IT literate and able to use and/or learn standard and proprietary software and more specifically, proficient in the use of PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Hours of Work:  40 core hours per week; additional hours to be worked at no additional pay to meet the demands of the business
