The Pakistan Performance Management Support Contract, PERFORM, was USAID’s largest monitoring, evaluation and learning project. It covered a massive $4 billion portfolio, which included work in areas of frequent instability such as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
The PERFORM provided USAID/Pakistan a full range of performance management services that included monitoring support, evaluations, assessments, and learning support that provided high-quality analysis and evidence-based data and information that the Mission used to target resources, inform program design and implementation decisions, and support the Mission’s collaboration, learning, and adapting (CLA) processes. While working with MSI, I supervised/ managed more than 20 assignments including monitoring support activities, evaluations, assessments, and learning support activities.
Activities performed:

I have had the opportunity to play a pivotal role in various research studies and surveys, demonstrating my competence in research and data analysis. Notably, I led and participated in four rounds of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) aimed at assessing the stability index. Additionally, I was involved in four rounds of Rapid Assessment of Markets (market surveys/market research) across 8 markets in FATA and KP. Furthermore, I contributed to Socio-Economic Studies, Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA), and the Assessment of Housing Uniform Assistance Subsidy Project (HUASP) in the same regions.
Working in collaboration with Management System International (MSI), I took charge of developing selection criteria for FGD respondents and assisted the technical team at MSI in refining the research instruments. Alongside the HR manager, I actively participated in recruiting, interviewing, and assembling skilled teams comprising FGD recruiters, enumerators, supervisors, data validators, and data entry operators, all crucial for the success of the project.
To ensure the accuracy and reliability of our findings, I supported the teams in data analysis and report writing, making use of various applications such as SPSS, MAXQDA, and STATA. Additionally, I meticulously produced, reviewed, and finalized verbatim transcripts of FGDs, adhering to the MSI format.
Maintaining high data quality standards, including reliability, validity, timelines, and confidentiality, was always a priority for me. I also played a role in evaluating the accessibility grid to ensure that all activities were conducted in secure areas, minimizing potential risks.
Furthermore, I took the initiative to develop comprehensive plans, manuals, and agendas for the training sessions conducted for the data collection teams. Additionally, I prepared survey methodology reports in accordance with the prescribed standards/format provided by MSI.
Apart from my research-related responsibilities, I actively participated in organizing and facilitating workshops, meetings, and conferences, fostering a collaborative and productive environment within the project.
