Design and development of novel cascaded multilevel grid tie inverter

Pakistan is facing severe energy crises which is badly effecting its economic growth and standards of life of the nation. To overcome these energy crises our country requires some novel approach to meet the demands and provide the required electrical power .Therefore, power electronics is a hub of research these days. One of the most important development in field of power electronic converters is the Grid Tie Inverter, which is playing an important role in the field of distributive power generation and integration. Multilevel inverters are mostly used in these converters due to some advance features. Large number of switches is one of the most important disadvantage of multilevel inverter. The proposed and tested design has lesser number of switches which efficiently tackles the power loss in the circuitry. Improvement of efficiency by decreasing the in system losses is the main idea behind this project. The controlling module of the inverter has the ability to track amplitude, phase and frequency of the reference signal. Furthermore this project has the feature of equal voltage source sharing which is one of the important feature of multilevel inverters. The proposed design was tested on simulation and further verified by developing a prototype. The results found are closely matching with each other.
