Hospital admission:
Carry out patients admissions according to MSF acceptance criteria and re-orientate the out of criteria patients
Work in close collaboration with other departments, ensuring the good transfer of patients to other units
Respect MSF Guidelines and Protocols for prescription of investigations and treatment if required
General care in NBU:
Examine all patients in NBU
Prescribe the care and treatments required according to MSF guidelines and clinical protocols and ensure the correct application of prescriptions
Ensure the rational use of medicines
Keep the hospitalization forms up to date by noting the details of examinations, entry and exit diagnosis and follow the specialist consultations
Prepare all documentation for discharge and referral
Ensure the proper handover to incoming colleagues about all patients
Inform the direct supervisor in event of medical error
Newborn Care:
Complete new-born assessment on each baby delivered in Women Hospital prior to discharge
Carry out the daily round in the New-born Unit in collaboration with the pediatrician in charge
Recognize abnormalities and/or deteriorating condition and notify pediatrician in charge of new-born care
Attend and participate in new-born resuscitation
Admit babies to NBU according to MSF criteria and protocol
Manage care plan and prescriptions according to protocol
Able to identify new-borns requiring referral according to MSF referral criteria and participates in facilitating the referral
Informs mothers and fathers about the illness of her baby, and explains the treatment required
Perform well-baby check on healthy babies
Attend the delivery room or OT in difficult deliveries to be ready to offer neonatal care
Other:
Participate in on-going personnel training (care techniques, updating protocols, etc.)
Participate in weekly training sessions, proposing and presenting topics
