Protocol Officer- Job Description
The Protocol Officer (PO) will have the following roles and responsibilities.
• The job is for 8 hours daily 1:30pm to 9:30pm, 6 Days a week with weekly holiday on Sunday. Any extra work done on Sunday will be paid in addition to the monthly salary.
• The post holder will be reporting to the General Manager on a day-to-day basis and to the CEO for any tasks assigned by the CEO.
• The job has 3 aspects to it, Patient Protocol, Consultant Protocol and Protocol Officer to the CEO.
A. Responsibilities in Patient Protocol:
• To meet all patients and their families who are admitted to the hospital for any procedure and welcome them to the hospital.
• To facilitate the patient and their family before the procedure and address any concerns/fears they might have with regards to having a cardiac procedure.
• To remain in contact with the patient’s family during all major procedures such as Angiography, Angioplasty and Bypass Surgery.
• To meet the patient immediately after the procedure and update the family with regards to the general condition of the patient.
• To remain in touch with the patient and their family on a daily basis and address any concerns they may have with regards to their care/services of the hospital.
• To provide Patient feedback form to the patient’s family and obtain written feedback from them and ensure that the form is emailed to the CEO on a daily basis.
B. Responsibilities in Consultant Protocol:
• To meet and greet all consultants who came to the hospital for doing clinics/performing procedures and establish a rapport with them.
• To keep the consultants informed about their patient from the time of arrival of the patient in the hospital, on their post procedure phase, and until the patient is discharged from the hospital. The consultant must be informed when the patient has been discharged and the patient has gone home.
• To attend to any concerns that the consultants may express with regards to the services of the hospital, their patients, their accounts etc.
• To call our referring consultants in the different districts of Punjab on a monthly basis and develop a good working relationship with them.
C. Responsibilities as Protocol Officer to the CEO:
• To keep the CEO informed regarding the overall wellbeing/concerns of the patients/consultants.
• To attend to any official matters assigned by the CEO from time to time.
• To hold weekly virtual meetings with the CEO in order to review past progress and plan future actions.
• To monitor the patient notes documented by the medical and nursing staff and provide twice daily updates to the CEO via WhatsApp.
