Mr. Qaisar Azam is a humanitarian and development professional with a professional experience of 15 years of working in different capacities in national (Pakistani) and international organizations. During his professional career he has managed 38 projects on Humanitarian Response and Early Recovery (WASH, Shelter & NFIs, Protection, FSL, Cash Transfer, Nutrition, Health, Coordination and Network building), Education, Basic Health, Climate Change Adaptation, Food Security & Sustainable Livelihoods, DRR & Resilience building, Youth and Women Empowerment, Human Rights, Peaceful pluralism, Good Governance & Democracy and Civil Society Networking & consortium building.
Under the direct supervision of Executive Director, Mr. Qaisar has led the programmes department, which includes five thematic areas i.e. 1. Humanitarian Response (Emergency, Early Recovery and Rehabilitation; WASH, Protection, Shelter & NFIs, Food & Economic Security, Nutrition and Education), 2. Climate Change Adaptation & Resilience, 3. Disaster Risk Reduction, 4. Natural Resources Management and 5. Food Security & Sustainable Livelihoods. He was also responsible for the programme compliance and inter-departmental coordination and management. Mr. Qaisar led more than 15 projects in different districts of Pakistan. He has developed/formed team, developed various project proposals, tools for implementation, MEAL and assessments and coordinated projects at national level. He has been the focal persons for Indus Consortium, START Network and National Humanitarian Network in Pakistan.
Directly reporting to Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Qaisar was responsible to lead the programmes department of organization, which includes thematic areas like: Humanitarian Response, Climate Change Adaptation, Education, Health, Peaceful Pluralism, Good Governance, Protection and Women Economic Empowerment. During this role Mr. Qaisar has took lead role in signing of various MoUs with Universities and Government departments and authorities. He coordinated more than 50 consultative meetings, workshops, seminars and trainings especially with youth. He has moderated 2 annual Rawadari (Tolerance) Festivals at provincial level. He also developed more than 20 project proposal, LFAs and scoping documents for projects. He managed a team of 30 plus local staff in six districts of north region of Sindh Province in Pakistan.
Under the direct supervision of Executive Director, Mr. Qaisar was responsible for overall management and compliance of the humanitarian and resilience section of programmes department. He has managed and took lead in 14 Humanitarian and 5 Resilience building projects in 11 districts of Sindh Province. He has played a vital role in coordination with the stakeholders and humanitarian clusters; he was appointed as focal persons for all coordination activities by government, UN and other stakeholders. He has managed more than 10 trainings for government staff on humanitarian and resilience topics. He designed more than 20 project proposal (including 12 won) for different donors and INGO partners. He led various field surveys, research studies, social and environmental feasibilities, rapid need assessments, vulnerability & risk assessments and evaluations.
Under the supervision of Executive Director, Mr. Qaisar had the overall mandate of leading the forest protection programme. He looked after a team of 4 social mobilizers and 18 forest protection Eco-guards in Hyderabad region. He took lead role in formation of 30 forest protection committees and conducted trainings on Community/Leadership Management Skills Trainings. Mr. Qaisar was also responsible to track new funding opportunities and draft project proposal for the same cause. He also conducted various stakeholders meeting and also facilitated in signing of MoU with Forest Department, Government of Sindh, Pakistan.
Under the direct supervision of Mr. Qaisar was responsible for the protection activities like facilitation of flood affected vulnerable persons for obtaining smooth services for receiving Watan Card (Cash grants facility by Government of Pakistan) at NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority), formation of Protection Committees, Trainings of Protection Committees on protection services, monitoring and human rights, conducting protection monitoring visits at distribution points of IRC’s other departments. Mr. Qaisar has formed 52 Protection Committees and 52 trainings in overall district.
