概要

Beside having strong academic background I have experience of working in development sector as well. I have served as a research assistant in Knowledge Management Unit of an education based think tank known as Institute of Social and Policy Studies (I-SAPS). There I worked on different projects related with education governance, sponsored by Ilm-Ideas, which are Public Private Partnership in Education (PPPe), Partnership for Management (PfM) and Adopt a School Program (AAS). I also assisted in organization of a policy dialogue on PPPe held at Avari Hotel Lahore. This dialogue was chaired by the chairman of parliamentary standing committee on education and attended by government and civil society representatives.

I have completed my M.Phil. in Government and Public Policy from National Defence University, Islamabad. I did my BS in Social and Cultural Studies from University of the Punjab, Lahore. My academic and research background make me a strong candidate to teach both lower-level and upper- level policy or socio-cultural courses and to make substantial contributions to the academic environment of organizations.

My M.Phil. thesis entitled Education Content and Inculcation of Values in Schools in Pakistan: Analysis of Social Studies Curricula at Elementary Level, attempted to explore how state is implementing its policy of inculcation of values in students. National Education Policy (2009) asserts inculcation of certain values in students through elementary schooling. This research explored that in presence of domestic socio-political crisis and challenges posed by modernization this policy objective of the state is not being achieved. Consequently, it leaves room for non-state education systems to influence students and transfer the values of their own belief. I believe that my research plays a significant role in exploring the disparity among the education policy and the practices on the ground. I will carry on with this research in my PhD as well.
