Capacity Building under participatory learning system for farmer community. My expertise in Crop Management, Plant Protection/ Integrated Pest Management, Trainings, Sustainable Land Management, Climate Smart Agriculture, Livelihood and Food Security.
• Establish and facilitate Farmer Field Schools (FFS) or Farmer Business Schools (FBS) for participatory learning. • Facilitate experimentation, participatory learning by doing and training on plants disease and insect pest management, integrated weed management, integrated soil fertility management, livestock health management, storage and processing, farm economics and financial literacy, and other issues that come up for individual groups. • Facilitate trainings on specific crop or livestock-related issues pertaining to the commodity value chains under development • Contribute to extension materials development • Organize and mobilize male and/or female farmers into groups, and/or use existing Community Organizations for this purpose, for establishment of FFS/FBS for participatory learning and trainings on specific crop or livestock production and quality related issues. • Provide support and facilitate farmer groups in introduction and establishment of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and improved (post) harvest handling and marketing of high value horticultural and/or livestock products; • Develop field based FFS, FBS actions plans. • Contribute to FFS/FBS extension and training materials development • Develop and organize crop based and livestock based FFS/FBS and implement all stages and components with regular field follow-up and interaction with participants; • Conduct awareness-raising meetings to introduce the FFS/FBS concept, identify the farmers and learning site/ sites;
Lead the work of the staff in the districts in terms of attendance, work planning, implementation, logistics HR and other management related tasks.
Assist the Project Coordinator to liaise with district government officials to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
Lead the team of district FFS/FBS facilitators in collecting and preparing background information on value chains, agribusiness and market development issues; provide appropriate field guidance and local knowledge support to project coordinator and other consultants.
Liaison in between districts teams and the subject matter experts and specialist staff on the project, including those supplying expertise on livestock, horticulture, market development, climate smart technologies and gender, as well as acting as implementation partner
Prepare district work plans on economic viable value chains and agribusiness in collaboration with the Project Coordinator and other staff, and supervise the facilitation and implementation of activities at field and value chain level.
Work closely with the project groups established and supported including community organizations, producer marketing groups to produce value chain and agri business plans that are likely to result into positive income growth.
Day to day operational and financial activities and managing the FAO district team and Office
Prepare and submit monthly work plan and progress reports;
Perform any other associated duties as required by the Project Coordinator.
Facilitate the project target villages’ selection process under guidance of national, provincial and district lead.
Facilitate field level interventions for establishment of Climate Business Field School (CBFS), Farmer Field Schools for Women (FFS-W), and Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA) sites;
Facilitate district lead/supervisor preparation and completion of field work plan, agriculture inputs procurement plan, logistic and admin support etc.
Facilitate and participate capacity building events/ trainings on CBFS, selected CRA practices, facilitation skills, farmer training curricula, On Farm Water Management (OFWM), use of ICT, monitoring methods, and others.
Facilitate to organise local level ToT for extension officers, staff and/or employees from partner organisations (entities) on CRA and OFWM. Apart from this facilitate organising season long Training of Farmer Facilitators (ToFF)
Provide technical backstopping to run the CBFS/FFS-W/CRA practices and facilitate ongoing project related activities in the selected districts;
Closely work with district lead/ supervisor and sectoral specialist for collection and compilation of all the information related with CBFS/FFS-W/CRA, economic analysis, Cost Benefit Analysis related data from respective district;
Conduct broad based community meetings (BBCM) / stake holders workshop at community level;
Conduct needs assessment / base line / surveys for data collection in the defined project areas
Facilitate district office in better liaison and coordination with district administration, I/NGOs, private sector companies, academia, research institutions and women and men farmer organizations;
Assist district lead and sectoral specialist in the day-to-day monitoring of CBFS/FFS-W/CRA. interventions and compile monthly monitoring sheets (online/offline);
Ensure timely submission of CBFS/FFS-W/CRA monthly work plan and progress reports (monthly, quarterly, and final) to supervisor;
Perform any other associated task as required.
• Organize and mobilize farmers into groups for establishment of Farmer Field School, Women Open School, Farmer Business School and Climate Smart Agriculture (FFS/WOS/FBS/CSA) sites
• Develop and organize crop based FFS/WOS and implement its all stages and components with regular field follow-up; Responsible for collection and compilation of all the information with respect to FFS/FBS/CSA established in the district
• Document and develop database, based on beneficiaries’ information and also to identify and develop case studies and success stories for periodic reports
• Responsible for establishment, formation and facilitation of FFS/FBS in the target villages with the support of implementing partners
• Responsible for project activities in the targeted area (social mobilization, field assessments, identification and selection of beneficiaries, implement INRM initiatives, homestead kitchen gardening, promote CSA, distribution of various agriculture inputs in the selected villages, etc)
• Organize capacity development initiatives and other field based activities i.e. farmer consultative meetings, gender sensitive trainings, workshops, exposure visits, monitoring visits and field days
• Provide technical backstopping to post FFS/WOS and farmers organizations and local networks
• Keep close collaboration with FAO’s Project team and downstream implementing partners for implementation of FFS/WOS/FBS/CSA
• Liaison and coordination with district Agriculture Department and relevant key stakeholders working in the target districts
• Assist Participatory CSA Extension Specialist and share information with Project Coordinator in the day-to-day monitoring of FFS/WOS/FBS/CSA interventions and compile monthly monitoring sheets (online/offline)
• Survey for selection of potential farmers for Medium Farmers
• Conduct meeting with farmers for project orientation and farmer’s group formation
• Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of results as well as the sustainability of the project results
• Build capacity of local communities, partners and staff on the logical framework
• Register the Medium Farmers and successful capacity building of the workers
• Training of farmers for implementation of BCI production principles and criteria
• Prepare guidelines for the selection of FFS/WOS participants/trainees
